Edit wars, even when they're just a skirmish, can be a bit frustrating, eh? There are several ways of dealing with something like this, which isn't really an error and isn't really an opinion and isn't really making something (like format) inconsistent--it's just an annoyance. Some thoughts:

  • I've found that a truck full of dynamite applied to a nearby abandoned mine can work off a bit of steam. But I usually reserve this for more serious issues.
  • Give in and leave it. (I'm not very good at that when I think it really shouldn't be there, myself.)
  • Put a note on the user's talk page; that way he'll see it without any doubt, whereas in the talk page for the article it's not as easily seen even if you do the good thing (like you did) and put "see talk page" in the edit summary. And be nice, of course. :-) This user seems to have been responsive to discussions in the past. I usually try to phrase it as a suggestion or question, like--"in the GS article, there's already a link to lists of famous & fictional dogs, in which several GSs are listed. Seems there's not really a good reason to also have the Ace link on this page, so we've removed it before but you've put it back. Could we just remove it and leave it on the list of fictional dogs page?"
  • Think of alternative solutions. My first alternative solution was to add links to the 2 lists of famous & fictional dogs, but then that really means we shd have those links on ALL breed pages that appear in those lists, which I'm not keen on when they can get there from the various higher-level links (e.g., category:dogs or list of dog topics or whatever...). Another alternative solution, I'm thinking now that I'm thinking about it 'cause you asked :-), is to go in the opposite direction from removal and create sections on "famous GSs" and "fictional GSs" and duplicate all the appropriate list items from the list pages. This has actually been done on several other breed pages, and maybe it's not such a bad idea, even if it does duplicate the entries--because the list pages are org'd by name, I think, not breed. I'm kind of liking this idea--what do you think?

Hope this helps. Elf | Talk 18:39, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Thanks. I left a message on the user's Talk page. We'll see what happens. Dsurber 19:04, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

My changes to your english shepard article[edit]

Hey, truth be told I wasn't dissatisfied with your introduction...I was just trying to alter the article to fit with the standard for all the dog breed pages. So yeah I can add that bit about the differences that distinguish the english shepard from similar breeds. I'll edit it right now...get back to me to tell me what you think. Ok cool...glad you're happy. It looks good. Bremen 18:28, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Hi DSurber,

I am trying ot find out where you got the picture of the female sable english shepherd working ? I have never seen a dog that looked so much like mine in my life, all of the markings are identical and body shape and face expression. I would love to know where this picture came from or if you took the picture or know who did and who owns this dog ? is there a possibility that it could be a picture of my dog that was found online somewhere ? just curious would love to know. hopefully you get this message.

I took the picture. She is my wife's dog. Her coloring is not rare in the breed. Dsurber (talk) 18:37, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nice Schutzhund photo[edit]

Nice photo. Could you also pelase add the source to the image page? (E.g., who took the photo or where it otherwise came from.) Thanks! Elf | Talk 00:08, 22 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Breed table[edit]

The place to bring it up is at the dog breeds project talk page. I'm just letting you know what was decided earlier. Thanks. Elf | Talk 00:49, 22 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
