VFD[edit]

After some soul searching, I've withdrawn my nomination for VFD. Zerbey 23:51, 27 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't delete this one, either. There are articles for other convicted murderers, and his case brought up ethical issues that will have to be addressed in other cases. Is it ethical to harvest the organs of condemned convicts? Would another method of execution, such as beheading or shooting which allows a more certain harvesting of a condemned inmate, be permissible by law?

If anything, this article could be expanded to give more biographical data (examples: birthdate and the place of the crime by city and county, maybe his record of convictions). I think that a description of the man's crime is enough to establish that he was a very bad character and won't make a perverse hero out of him.

The debate, which ended with keep is at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Gregory Scott Johnson. Sjakkalle (Check!) 09:16, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

US citizen?[edit]

I just came across Johnson by going through the Recent deaths list. There is no mention whatsoever — neither there ("Gregory Scott Johnson, executed for murdering an 82-year-old woman, had asked for a temporary reprieve to donate his liver to his sister") nor here — about his nationality. Somewhere in the middle of the article the legal situation in Indiana is referred to, so that's the only hint that that might have been his native state.

Please don't assume that everyone knows all about such a case already when they read a Wikipedia article. Similarly, there are far too many biographical entries here already starting with "... is an actor", "...is a professional wrestler", "... was a philanthropist" etc. etc. as if everyone who is not referred to as a "German biologist" or "Australian novelist" were automatically American.

Usually I fix things like that myself and do not complain, but in this case I just don't know anything about it. <KF> 20:22, Jun 19, 2005 (UTC)
