You may have already noticed that you can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too, as I've done below. This is useful, and is considered good etiquette, on talk pages. But be aware that the actual wikipedia articles should never be signed - they belong to the community, rather than the individual who created them.

Citation formating[edit]

Thanks for this[1]. Is there a tool I can use to do proper footnotes? The one I used to use doesn't seem all that good [2].Mccready (talk) 02:52, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Supranational European Bodies[edit]

I'm not sure I fully understand what it is you were trying to accomplish here, but we can't have articles that only exist to show a blow-up of an image and have no actual textual content. Accidental deletion of a talk page comment[edit]

Not sure Andy, sorry about removing your comment. I do remember noticing very quickly that I forgot one of the } in the ec template, and re-editing the section to add it. I can't remember if I got another ec after that or not. CS Miller (talk) 22:22, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for File:Ubuntu-10.04-grub.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ubuntu-10.04-grub.png. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Hosting English Wikipedia in College[edit]

I have installed MediaWiki 2 years ago.But since MediaWiki can't handle more than 1 GB(not sure) I changed to XOWA app.But using XOWA for a single user might be good but when it comes to a group of users I think MediaWiki might be more efficient since online wikipedia uses this software.Could you tell me are there any memory constraints for MediaWiki(asking whether it can handle a wikipedia dump of 10GB)?I once tried to install the dump by increasing the memory limit in php configuration file(apache too) in WAMP server but I think it can handle around 1GB as I tried but when it comes to the dump file(10GB) it usually gives some error.Since I couldn't get a lot from MediaWiki should I need to install any other software.As per your recommendation I'll look for the latest MediaWiki software(haven't tried for last 2 years) as well as get an apache server.Do you mean that the requirements for hosting an English Wikipedia are:

  1. MediaWiki
  2. Apache Server
