Request for help[edit]

Hi, My name is Arthur Bodie. I have been teaching and creating Jazz Dance Moves since 1980, i was always doing things alone and so never heard of your orginzation before today, i would like to have more information, i can be reached at: Arthur@UpendoConcepts.com

It is not "our" organisation. You are reading an encyclopedia article, which also contains the link to the home page of the organization http://www.idta.co.uk/about.html. Mikkalai 05:27, 26 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I do have much to say about the JAZZ DANCE First of all people should know that pure JAZZ DANCE is older than any other form of dance, it is used for many reasons and claimed to be the creation of many, and so without going into details here and now i must tell to all that JAZZ DANCE is the most personally expressive form of dance known to humankind and it it high time that this was acknowledged -- Arthur Bodie (anon User:24.238.93.160 14:18, 26 December 2004)

Well Arthur, ancient Greeks probably thought differently, as well as India dancers. It is time for you to stop doing things "alone" and consider learning a little bit about dance from others. Unfortunately I cannot say that this encyclopedia is a good reference about all kinds of dance. You are welcome to improve the dance articles, including the one about your favourite Jazz dance. Edit Request[edit]

As an employee of the IDTA I am not allowed to edit this article directly. However there are several inaccuracies in it and some statements are now out of date.

In the first section it states that 'The IDTA also works in partnership with the Royal Academy of Dance'. This partnership ended some years back and needs to be removed. Likewise the section labelled 'Associations' that details this partnership needs to be removed also.

The 'Miss Dance of Great Britain' and 'Dance Master UK' were renamed this year to 'Miss Dance and Dance Master of Great Britain'. See https://www.missdancemaster.co.uk/

Under the 'Dance Style' section, two years ago the Branches split into Theatre Branch, Ballroom Branch and Freestyle Branch. The list of dance styles needs to be updated to recognise this change.

Under the 'Teaching Qualifications' section, the IDTA introduced the Level 4 Diploma in Dance Teaching to replace the Associate level qualification. See here: https://www.idta.co.uk/members-hub/qualifications/idta-level-4-diploma-in-dance-teaching/ . The following text from the website should be included:

The new Level 4 Diploma in Dance Teaching will be available for examination from 1st April 2016.

The new qualification will replace the Associate qualification for Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz and Theatre Craft for learners in the UK. It is optional for learners outside the UK.

For learners studying Ballroom, Latin, Classical Sequence and Freestyle in the UK and outside the UK they have the option to take the current Associate qualification or the Level 4 Diploma.

Under the same section, the 'Theatre Branch' label should be removed as the Pre-Associate, Associate, Licenciate and Fellowship qualifications apply to all Branches of dance covered by the IDTA.

Finally, the 'Miss Dance and Dance Master of Great Britain' link that is currently broken should be replaced with the current https://www.missdancemaster.co.uk/

If you can help see to it that as many of these changes as possible are made, I would be very grateful. Gavin010914 (talk) 13:17, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've put the proper edit request tag so someone will see this. Thank you for mentioning your employee status; you should also put that on your user page. There are formal ways to do this described at WP:PAID, but a simple statement of who you work for will suffice. 331dot (talk) 13:19, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  Unable to review

  • To expedite your request, please provide the desired claims in the form of verbatim statements which can then be added to the article (if approved) by the reviewer. The exact location where the desired claims are to be placed should also be described, as shown in the example below.
Edit request example
  • Please add the following claim as the third sentence of the second paragraph of the Sun section:

The Sun's diameter is estimated to be approximately 864,337 miles in length.

  • Using as the reference:

<ref>Paramjit Harinath. (2019) The Sun. Academic Press, p.1. </ref>
  • This verbatim text should be placed using your own words and phrases, per WP:CLOSEPARAPHRASE. Any text which is not properly paraphrased cannot be added to the article. Some key aspects to keep in mind about the proposed text:
  1. The word "new" should not be used anywhere in the text, per MOS:RELTIME.
  2. Claims which were the case some time ago but have since changed should not be deleted. Instead, the prior state of the claims should be mentioned along with their current status, taking care not to use the word "now" when describing current situations. In place of that word please use exact dates (or simply the year, for brevity).
  3. Claims which use phrasing indicating future actions or expected state of affairs (i.e., "Occurrence Z will happen in 2016..") should be re-worded if these future dates have already occurred ("In 2016, occurrence Z took place..."). Any future items which have yet to occur should be deleted, per WP:FUTURE.
  4. References should be placed in the text at the exact location where the information which they reference resides. These should be placed using <ref> and </ref> tags placed at both ends of the reference information (as shown in the example above).[a]
  • At your earliest convenience, kindly open a new edit request using the {{request edit}} template affixed to the top of your post, and place that post at the bottom of this talk page when ready to proceed with the verbatim text (including ref-tagged references) and the placement locations. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here on the talk page. Be sure to include the {{request edit}} template to notify editors of any questions you may have. Thank you!

Some proposed changes[edit]

Extended content
  • In the fourth sentence of the opening paragraph it states that 'The IDTA also works in partnership with the Royal Academy of Dance'. This partnership ended some years back and needs to be removed.
  • I'm afraid I have no source to reference this as no announcement was made when the IDTA and RAD ceased working together. However as an employee of IDTA and with sole responsibility for maintenance of the IDTA website, I was asked by the CEO to remove news of the two organisations partnership from our official channels.

  • In the Teaching Qualifications section there is a sub-heading of 'Theatre Branch'. Please delete the sub-heading as the levels listed can apply to Theatre, Ballroom and Freestyle branches.
  • You can refer back to the IDTA website to confirm this:

https://www.idta.co.uk/qualification/ballroom-fellowship/ https://www.idta.co.uk/qualification/ballroom-licentiate/ https://www.idta.co.uk/qualification/ballroom-associate/

  • In the Teaching Qualifications section, please remove the first two sentences People who wish to become dance teachers with the theatre branch of the IDTA can undertake a teacher training programme with an authorised member of the organisation. Candidates can undertake teacher training in one of the core theatre dance subjects of Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz or Theatrecraft. as the five core levels listed apply to Theatre, Ballroom and Freestyle branches.
  • You can refer back to the IDTA website to confirm this:

https://www.idta.co.uk/qualification/ballroom-fellowship/ https://www.idta.co.uk/qualification/ballroom-licentiate/ https://www.idta.co.uk/qualification/ballroom-associate/

  • In the Teaching Qualifications section, please amend the first line in the last paragraph - A teacher who has achieved Fellowship status in all four core subjects of the theatre branch, can apply to become an examiner for the branch. - to read:

A teacher who has achieved Fellowship status in all of the core branch subjects, can apply to become an examiner for the branch.

  • Again the different levels of qualification with the IDTA can apply to Theatre, Ballroom and Freestyle branches. * You can refer back to the IDTA website to confirm this:

Notes

  1. ^ These items were unreferenced in that only the subject organization was proposed as the source citation. Citations to reliable, independent WP:SECONDARY sources are preferred. Additionally, this information strongly resembles information that one might see in a brochure for the organization. That type of material is not allowed in Wikipedia, per WP:NOTBROCHURE.

[edit]

The IDTA underwent a rebrand in 2014, including the replacement of the old logo. The logo you have is out of date and the CEO would like it replaced. What is the correct way to go about this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gavin010914 (talkcontribs) 08:50, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not concerned with what the CEO wants, but if you have a current logo available for use, you may follow the procedure at WP:FFU for offering an image of the logo for upload. 331dot (talk) 08:54, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
