Considering how close the 2000 presidential election was, isn't it a bit silly to make a big to-do over a map which shows which states supported Bush or Gore? I mean, when you have to count every last vote down to the wire, that's not exactly solid support either way. I'm not saying that certain sections of the country don't vote a certain way, but a map based on the last presidential election seems like the one of the worst ways to make assumptions about voting patterns in the U.S. ~ FriedMilk 01:57, Sep 20, 2004 (UTC)

No, because there certainly are trends in the way that states vote over many elections. If you want more information see this site run by someone keeping track of electoral votes in 2004. He has a brief background and history on each state that is sometimes illuminating. (For instance, Kansas is a 'red state' because it has voted republican tons of times in the past few years. -SocratesJedi 04:35, 20 Sep 2004 (UTC)
