I added a merge comment on the basis that almost no-one would know how to enter the ± symbol for the sake of finding this article in the first place.

I have to dispute the request to merge. Look at what links here. This page can be accessed via redirects from DVD plus minus R and DVD plus minus RW. Editors can also simply highlight the title, or the ± character itself to copy and use in links.   –radiojon 06:54, 2004 Nov 22 (UTC)

I think this article should be merged with the DVD, caus' otherwise we would set a bad precedent for splitting articles into tiny pieces and making puzzles out of them. --Robert 23:25, 11 August 2005 (UTC)

If it's not merged there should at least be a 'see also' link added to the DVD article; I had trouble finding this.

I would suggest myself that the DVD±RW article be renamed to DVD+/-RW as I too have trouble typing this character (as do most Windows users who are just "reading up" or researching and not knowing everything about the way Windows handles input), and it is a common notation now to use "+/-" as a means of saying "Plus or minus", especially in the DVD world. This same technique should be applied to DVD±R, which should change to DVD+/-R. Just to save time, a redirect should also be made from DVD-/+RW in case someone should type it in 'backward'. -QuickHare (non-member)

removed "incorrectly"

I've taken out the word "incorrectly" from the opening title, as there was no link provided to verify that saying "minus" is officially wrong. It is merely an alternative way of reading the character, so should not be considered wrong (are regional variations within the grammar of any given country's language "wrong"? I think not...). In any case, it surely makes more sense to say "minus" if you also say "plus", as it's the oposite.... Paulfp 17:31, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
