Copyright Policy[edit]

Good work creating new articles and contributing to exisiting ones. When you make contributions, be careful that you don't include copyrighted material. Copyright rules are complicated, so take some time to review Wikipedia:Copyrights. A good general rule is that most things on the internet are already copyrighted by someone else, so they cannot be contributed to wikipedia. Again, content from webpages is usually copyrighted and cannot be added to wiki. Keep up the good work, and feel free to contact me with questions. Feco Your contribution to American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam was copied from [1], which has a copyright at the bottom of the page. Feco 20:07, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Image deletion warning The image Image:Cid 1863781.jpg has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it will be deleted. If you have any information on the source or licensing of this image, please go there to provide the necessary information.

Hi Cochrate, Please don't remove copyright violation tags from articles. You mentioned that you have permission to use the material from http://www.amchamvietnam.com/about_us/ in the wikipedia article. But you haven't responded to my question on the talk page. I hope you understand that an anonymous comment from an unidentified person can't be taken seriously with regards to copyright violations.

I sent and email to the website asking for confirmation that the text in question is licensed per the GFDL. Please don't remove the copyright violation notice until this is resolved, thanks--Duk 06:31, 14 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the quick response, the copyvio tag has been removed. --Duk 15:14, 14 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:About_adrian_fenty.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:About_adrian_fenty.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or ask for help at Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. Thank you. -- Carnildo 07:01, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Carin_Goring1.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Carin_Goring1.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Image source problem with Image:Amcham logo.gif[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Amcham logo.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:53, 7 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. July 2013[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you.  Tentinator  19:53, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Image size and location[edit]

Thanks for your addition of many great images. Please try to right justify images where possible, and keep them to the default size of 220 px, per MOS:IMGSIZE. Thanks! Magnolia677 (talk) 21:35, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for February 26[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Congress Heights, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Civil War (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:03, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
