Oak Ridges Moraine[edit]

The article currently has some decent information on the Oak Ridges Moraine, but given the importance of this natural region to south-central Ontario, I believe it deserves to have a far greater scope. Mindmatrix

  4. Thank you for the clarification, Mindmatrix. When I found the article, it was a measly little stub, and I overhauled it myself since I didn't realize this page existed. After the overhaul, I figured, hey, he's probably got enough to be a feature article, so I'm trying to push that through now. I'm not sure how to withdraw the nomination here, but clearly it is now out of place.

  • There's a stub now. I've provided a number of links to sources. She didn't found the Council (IIRC - I believe that was Mel Hurtig, but I'm being lazy at the moment and just going on memory for that). She has some notable involvements outside of the Council. She's also the author (and sometimes co-author) of something like a dozen books. Morgentaler et al. v. Her Majesty The Queen[edit]

Reasons for nomination: Since we are nominating Canadians laws this supreme court case from the 1980's against Henry Morgentaler was the essential case in legalizing abortion in Canada. This is again in the news since Morgentaler was given an honourary degree today by the University of Western Ontario against protestors outside. User:Dowew

Charles Michel de Langlade / Charles-Michel Mouet de Langlade[edit]

Reasons for nomination: Well, it's shocking he doesn't have an article. He was perhaps the most important métis (Ottawa and French Canadian parents) military leader of the 18th century. It's even arguable that he fired the first shots of the Seven Years' War. Somehow he managed to be at countless important battles in North America during that war, and led the Ottawa forces that defeated the Braddock Expedition. He was with Montcalm at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham. In his spare time, managed to be proclaimed by some as the "Father of Wisconsin." [1] Fascinating guy. Morningside[edit]

Seminal Canadian radio show, which currently is poorly represented on Wikipedia, as you can see from the current Morningside entry. Arguably the show and its host Peter Gzowski were a fixture of the Canadian political and artistic landscape of its time. Since its late host published several books based on the show (the Morningside Papers) all it ought to take is a few people to head down to their local library to beef up the article.

Asbestos Strike[edit]

This is a very important aspect of Quebec history. It events had a great impact on the future of Quebec in Canada. There is a large amount of information out there on this event however the article is not very large. The strike is also on a huge event in Canadian labour history. It was the second most violent strike after the Winnipeg General Strike.

I think this article has a great deal of potention but could use more fleshing out (particularly about her early career) and needs some pruning and perhaps to be broken up into a few more sections like a year by year look at Clarksons time in Rideau Hall. Vincent Massey[edit]

Although not exactly a stub, what is there is little more than his gg.ca biography and nothing is in sections headings. He was the first Canadian born GG & the brother of an Oscar nominated actor. This article could also use more information on his apparent anti-semetism . It also looks like Massey was the first GG to leave an autobiography. He was a turning point for Rideau Hall and there is probably an abundance of information out there.

The Secret Mulroney Tapes: Unguarded Confessions of a Prime Minister[edit]

Currently in the news as Brian Mulroney filed a lawsuit on Wednesday. It would be good to add a little more information regarding how well the book sold, reactions from former colleagues, the TV documentary, and the lawsuit. If anyone knows where to find copies of the legal allegations made by Mulroney against Peter C. Newman I think those would be a good thing to link to. Some images would improve it drastically. Also the citations could tighed to be more in line with what is expected of a featured article this could turn out pretty good.

Am taking a building-by-building approach to the subject, which seems appropriate since there are so many architecturally significant buildings on its grounds. Nelvana[edit]

A Canadian cartooning institution, which is currently poorly served by a brief intro para and a lengthy, but rough, list of the shows it has produced over the years. In addition to the cartoons and the company, the story of Nelvana is also that of the rise of commercial Canadian cartoon production, and institutions like Sheridan College. There is an excellent article from ’96 in the LookSmart archives [2], which could be mined for source material, and there’s undoubtedly more out there.

Exhibition Place[edit]

This is the place where the C.N.E. is held every summer in Toronto. The land it is on is older than that of the incorporation of the city (see Fort Rouillé), and the CNE has been held on its grounds since 1878. The article already has plenty of info, but there are lots of holes; just see the "Other buildings" section near the end of the article for an obvious place to start. Lots of good background material available online and likely in your local library as well.
