Year of birth[edit]

Bolton's birth was recently changed from 1954 to 1953. Sources on the internet seems to be almost evenly divided between the two years. Can anyone give a definite reference for one of the years? Rasmus (talk) 21:39, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bolton spoke and sang at Coretta Scott King's recent funeral, and said during his speech that he was born in 1953. A video link to the speech and song is on this page: Stranger Donates Thousands To King Center After Funeral Jan1020 20:06, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Nanny[edit]

How about his appearance in "The Nanny" Episode 112 ? -95.88.230.190 (talk) 06:37, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mention in the movie Office Space?[edit]

It seems to be notable. Should this be added? Hanxu9 (talk) 22:02, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

He was not in the movie, just lampooned. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 01:54, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So? If the lampooning was notable (?) a mention would be worthwhile24.130.65.122 (talk) 00:56, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Discography[edit]

Isn't it customary to include a discography-style career reference with bground for each album? --208.73.83.42 (talk) 14:42, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request[edit]

{{editsemiprotected}} There is a broken link near the bottom of the section Michael Bolton#Musician; I am requesting that this be turned into either a proper reference. Out of interest; why was this protected in the first place?--212.139.213.178 (talk) 14:20, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the link. Can you please provide a proper reference? Once you have it, please put up the edit request template again. This entry needs to be updated with Michael Bolton's participation as "Host" (he actually plays more of a role as sidekick who sings) in "The Celebrity Dating Game," in 2021.

The Lonely Island[edit]

Shouldn't it be listed below the current last line ("Michael Bolton is currently working on...") that he performed in The Lonely Island's "Jack Sparrow" music video? I don't think simply saying "performed with The Lonely Island" is informative enough. --Tokyo —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.185.6.231 (talk) 04:19, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lonely Island HE?[edit]

It says "He comedic performance with the notorious group focused on his off-topic chorus and miscommunication with the group. " This should be changed from He to his. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.19.170.124 (talk) 04:32, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from 76.8.194.226, 29 August 2011[edit]

It would appear that the word artists is misspelled in the Career: Musician section in the following sentence:

As a songwriter, he has also written and collaborated on several songs for other artisis as well.

The section on Acting claims that he appeared in "Dune". In a recent interview on ABC radio, he denied this claim. This section should be changed to note that this rumour exists, but is incorrect.

Not a big deal really, but he's appeared more than twice on Two and a Half Men and also in 2015: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two_and_a_Half_Men_(season_12) Plitter (talk) 13:13, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Is his recent Funny or Die appearance noteworthy?[edit]

Today, he teamed up with FoD to refilm various scenes from Office Space where he replaces David Herman in the character of "Michael Bolton", a programmer who has the indignity of sharing the same name as the singer, a coincidence which is the subject of numerous jokes in the film. Is his last named pronounced the same either way?[edit]

Michael Bolton has denied rumours that he once auditioned for Black Sabbath. This information should be in the article in order to fulfill Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View content policy and to have a balanced neutral article. Here are reliable sources as references: Echo News Newspaper, Rolling Stones Magazine, Ultimate Guitar. Could an editor please add this info into the 'Career - Music' section of the article? Thank you. 77.4.129.191 (talk) 12:23, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Name[edit]

You wanna protect this? Great. Then make it's grammatically correct. Look at the 2nd paragraph.

Second word of the article: Please correct his name’s spelling. It’s “Bolton” not “Bolotin.” Lol — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2606:A000:4DC0:2400:C86C:54BD:829D:7917 (talk) 17:02, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This has nothing to do with grammar, and Bolton's birth name was Michael Bolotin. See the Early life section and the sources that support it. General Ization Talk 03:08, 15 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Name misspelled[edit]

Is there a reason Bolton is misspelled in the beginning? Funkyblue04 (talk) 14:13, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect Song Title[edit]

The article currently states, "For Over the Rainbow, an album which was recorded in five days, Bolton recorded the song "New York City", which was also on his Bolton Swings Sinatra album. This was for an episode of the TV series, Challenge Anneka. The proceeds from the album went to children's hospices across the UK." The song referenced here is, "New York, New York" and should be linked to the appropriate article for that song. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Reesf (talkcontribs) 22:50, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In the about header at the top of the page where it says "For his self-titled debut album...", it should read "For his self-titled third album...", as he had released two studio albums prior to this under his birthname of Michael Bolotin. Alternatively, it may also read "For his third album, his first released under this name...". 68.224.243.48 (talk) 21:09, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 8 October 2023[edit]

The article mentions that Kanye sampled Bolton on "Never Let Me Down" in 2015, but "Never Let Me Down" is a 2004 song. This is additionally supported by the fact that source 12 was published in 2004, and "Never Let Me Down" is a song on The College Dropout. I request that this date is corrected. 64.189.111.226 (talk) 21:42, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
