Zanskar[edit]

What do you mean by the syntax given the Nichalp? Please elaborate. From the strange altitude of you and Mel, I see that you look like trying to reject every contribution that I make, good or bad.

What is Mel trying to mean by this? withing the limits of Wikipedia editing, so that it should be possible for you to collaborate with him.

Mr Tan 12:55, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Very good. You have finally replaced the black and white pictures with the colored ones. However, the content and sentences still needs cleanup.

Mr Tan 01:34, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I would apologise if I'm rude, but I have no intention to be agressive. Due to my exams, I would like to hold back the discussion and major edits, which I would be doing at that time. Anyway, I gave you this meessage partly because you were not always online in the past.

Anyway, your stuling is poor, but not the grammar. Thus, the {gcheck} template have to be put up, as this also pertains to the styling of the article. From there, I will have to either reshift, (maybe delete a few facts) to make it more tidy. Honestly, your styling and sentence construction is very poor.

The Troublesome You-Know-Who[edit]

Dear Moumine, thanks for the compliments. Indeed, it is quite unbearable to correct something as garbled as that, but luckily, patience is on my side. Time, unfortunately not. It's very easy to correct bad English, but if it comes from a person who thinks he has good knowledge of the language but actually does not, that's quite another matter. I'll do my best to fix up whatever I can. : ) You're from France? Which part? JMBell° 23:25, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I agree with you there. There are sooooo many errors. I don't know how one can make so many errors, especially if one claims to have good English. No offence meant. : ) Anyway, I've tried another tactic with You-Know-Who (see his talk page). I have a mind to put his "best" edits on BJAODN, but I don't know if that'd be mean... So you're from Switzerland? I see.... You sell Toblerone? :) You're lucky, you Swiss get to preserve your independence. Where exactly are you from? JMBell° 11:52, 1 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Zanskar[edit]

I concerned about your article. Honestly, your styling looks more like a research paper than an encyclopedia article, as the way you write is monotomous, rather than a piece of interesting and exciting work. Please restyle it, something like Lahul and Spiti. If you want to know about the standard of my English, go and see how the Liancourt Rocks is written.

I also appeal ypu not to delete the Kinner Kailash redirect. This is a common colloquial name.

Concerning about Kinnaur and Zanskar, I will correct everything according to your requests while I will point your mistakes in Zanskar. I am not Chan Han Xiang, my name is Randall Chinhong Tan, and Hans Tan is my nickname. Go ahead and edit Kinnaur, but don't make a mess on the styling of the article like Zanskar.

I would like to hint your major mistake. You have a habit to use and, rather than breaking up the sentence with a comma in the Keylong article. Please use commas and try not to use brackets, or ; as much as possible, as it makes the article boring. You see how Enid Blyton writes her books.

I have now opened Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Mr Tan, as I could see no other way forward. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 15:50, 1 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Commas[edit]

Wikipedia style (as well as most U.S. guides, and the U.K. "Oxford style") uses what's known as the "serial comma". This is because, although its use can (under very unusual conditions) lead to ambiguity, its absence often does. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 21:12, 1 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Zanskar[edit]

Please respect my decision for my edit. I do not intend to criticise you for your edits, but I only want to cleanup the article format into a way that resembles more like other articles. I will revert it to the last revision, but more edits will be done by me. Please tolerate for the time being as I need to regenerate myself up before I do any major copy-editing.

By the way, I acknowledge that my spelling may have some errors, (usually when I'm tired) just as most people have.

Yours, sincerely

Sorry — it's a problem with the admin's "rollback" function. It sometimes doesn't rollback to where I want it to. I meant to go back to my last version; instead it rolled back to the previous edit. I'll change it. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 15:15, 10 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Moumine, nice to know our old friend's back, eh? Good luck with the diplomatic stuff - it's hard to reason with this fella. Happy spring cleaning! And good luck - we'll need it, I'm sure. JMBell° 16:36, 10 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Reply[edit]

Moumine, although the grammar of the Zanskar article has witnessed a considerable improvement, I would like to indulge on a one-to-one discussion (using Mel Etitis and JMBell as witnesses, or judges) on the content of how Zanskar is written, preferably on 30 May 2005.

Anyway, I will attend to your question that you have posted on my talk page together with the proposed discussion. Any objections? (I hope not.)

If you are interested, you may look up [1]. (Sorry for the delay, for my computer was down)

Also, I hope that you will not object to the removal of the {dubious} tag on Lahul and Spiti. I don't see any disputes on the history section for a very long time.

Military of Switzerland[edit]

Hello !

You might be interested by Gun politics in Switzerland as well. We had hard time trying to keep US-inspired politics out of this article (one person actually mentionned that Swiss people wanted guns because they were aware and proud of their "constitutional rights" :p ). My remark on talk:Gun Politics and Talk:Gun politics in Switzerland are instances this.

Also, perhaps you could possibly have clues about the 5,56mm vs 5,6mm issue for the rifle, for instance...

Cheers ! Rama 08:40, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Zanskar[edit]

I apologise for being so accidental in deleting the wikilink you mentioned. But again, forgive and forget. I wouldn't like to hear such heart-breaking comments, honestly, in reference to the previous summary. Also, in your summary, you wrote: "As usually, MrTan..". It should be written as usual.

You also asked for what Dard means. They are an Indo-European people. I have read about them in travel guides which I borrowed from the community library. I shall highlight two Internet webpages which talk about the Dard people: [2], [3]. The Mons are Dard themselves; the travel guide "Trekking in Ladakh" said that they are "early Dard settlers of Ladakh". The physical features of Zanskaris suggests that they are of mixed descent. I have no objections of having "... notably Dard and Mon" in the article, but it would be nice to differentiate what "Mon" is and "Dard".

Good Luck. Mr Tan 07:23, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Appeal[edit]

I have noted this picture of yours File:Leh2.jpg, once used for Zanskar, but removed by yourself because of being black and white and the subject of the picture itself; the Leh palace, which was supposed to be used on Ladakh, not Zanskar.

I believe that there is the original coloured version of it which I believe, you took it during the late 1980s or early 1990s during your visit there.

If possible, I would greatly appreciate if you would like to upload the original, coloured picture onto wikipedia and use it for Leh or Ladakh. I like the picture, really. And I really wish to know and hope whether the original (as above picture) is coloured.

Thanks! Mr Tan 16:40, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Overhaul - gallery orientation[edit]

Why? In the first place, why do the admins create such technical features such as <gallery> for us? Secondly, why do mind such the design overhaul? I would appreciate if you give a good reason. I do not like your comment "As a matter of fact, yes I do mind your design rehaul." You should have the courtesy to give your reasons on your opposition taste to my edits and not wait for me to ask! Furthermore, even though my edits are granted as Free Use, you must be sensitive and consider the efforts that I put in to edit the article. And so, in that case, giving explanation in advance is the most important thing to your client.

Thirdly, the article does not belong to you, and you are editing as if its yours in a way, to some extent. If you wanted to revert my overhaul, you should have done that in your previous contact with me, in which case I would not have suspected your intention of sabotage. Do you have any hatred on me or what?

I really hope that your heart is pure. I had enough of Mel Etitis, whose reverts and edits are close to the extent to emotional abuse, for three long months, editing nearly every article that I edited, and I do not wish that you are like him, and I hope that I will not cross his path again. His interactions with me did more emotional harm to me than the reverse.

Anyway, for the gallery matter, please seek Wikipedia:Manual of Style. I really prefer the overhaul, it looks much better, and admins would not create such a template to organise these pictures in a template. People who want to see the picture would have click on it to see the enlarged version; it would be silly for you to do such a thing if that is your intention. Furthermore, this suits very well for articles who have a lot of images but has relatively little space to display content. You may see Thubten Gyatso for example, a short article which has four images, all displayed using the gallery template. It is widely excepted among wikipedians, and I'm afraid that I've to highlight that you're a poor exception in terms of designation ideas.

Also, I have provided some references on the Dard people on your userpage, why do you delete those edits? Please explain as well. I feel that these links [4], [5] are very credible, please see the previous messages. Travel guides are just as reliable; otherwise the publisher will not approve it for sale and the Singapore government would not allow it to be circulated among the local populace.

I do not like to drag on matters for too long, I want peace, not disputes, and for goodness sake please visit wikipedia more often to resolve this issue quickly. I happy you happy, and then there will be no dispute if everyone cooperates and respects the tastes and interests of each other's, and we can carry on editing wikipedia at our own interest without a burden in mind, Okay? Thanks!

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Zanskar alpage col.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 20:31, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Geology of the Himalaya[edit]

Hi. I added that reference for the length of Himalaya. In the lead of the article, it was said that the length of the Himalaya was about 2900 km. However, most sources said it would be over 2400 km. So I changed the length in the lead, and then gave a ref for the changed length (but not in the lead, the ref was added in a subsequent paragraph where the length was again mentioned). So, the placement of the ref may be wrong, it should have been placed immediately after the length. Also I am checking the author link. Thanks. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 05:53, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Slow Down Baby[edit]

This article should be removed. The "Candy Man" video hasn't even been released yet! Christina and RCA probably have not even thought about the 4th single yet. It's just a delusional fan posting this page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.143.253.230 (talk) 22:43, 4 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Hi This is about the image that you have uploaded. As a user has commented "Please move UP caption Mount Kailash to enable mount kailash peak visible.Thanks." . Can you please do that and make a more user-appealing indication of the mount kailash and then upload the image to commons please? Thanks --Spundun 04:44, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
