Underdeveloped pages[edit]

  • Giuseppe Verdi (as an aside, the opera article remains one of the most underdeveloped on Wikipedia)
I took an initial pass at Verdi although there's a lot more that could be done. I put ===media=== under ==see also==. I think it makes sense, but I'm not sure if others will agree. --Sketchee 09:55, Jan 1, 2005 (UTC)

Here are a few big-name composers from the 19th and early 20th century whose articles I think need some attention (in some cases, they need to be fed, and in others, edited, rearranged, or rewritten). Feel free to add to the list; I'll kick this off by adding a few I have had on my to-do list for months but haven't gotten around to yet. Anyone feel free to refactor this, maybe breaking out the underdeveloped composer list into a separate page or section as a group to-do list, or something. Good idea for a Wikiproject, Sketchee. I've got Hugo Wolf in my personal sandbox right now. And concur on the good idea. I've been trying to work my way through the important 20th c. names who don't have articles to give them at least good stubs.

(In shock) Jean Françaix doesn't even have a stub yet?? LOL. Yes, it's about time we all talked about this. :-) Antandrus 23:38, 31 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Incidentally, if anyone wants to take on Wolf with me, I've thrown up what I have so far at Hugo Wolf/temp. Mindspillage | spill your mind? 02:45, 1 Jan 2005 (UTC)

There's also a section on Wikipedia:Requested articles/music for "Composers, musicians, performers, singers and other persons". I may make a seperate Composers section on there so that new additions can be added with composers seperated. (I'm not going to be able to sort through all of the current section to determine who is who to break it up.) --Sketchee 03:38, Jan 2, 2005 (UTC)

I've added some post-1945 composers to the list - specifically, the rest of the New York School (Earle Brown, Christian Wolff), some New Complexity people (James Dillon, Richard Barratt, Michael Finnissy) and some 'Bang on a Can' composers (David Lang, Julia Wolfe, Michael Gordon). I'm a newbie so I'm only really starting to find my way around, but I'm going to have an initial stab at extending the Andriessen stub a bit - his page is pitifully small for one so influential. As I work on it I'll put drafts and bits up at User:Hutchies/Andriessen - see what you think.

A search on Google does not reveal any biographical sources, nor any sources that talk about him. A Wikipedia article can not be written unless there is published information about the person. Do you know of any such information? -- kosboot (talk) 20:08, 20 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
