This is my attempt to translate the nonsense from which i inferred German idioms, as far as i could:

In Germany, in contrast, LV propaganda and magazines justified, as had the Air Force magazine "The Eagle", aimed the "myth Legion CONDOR".

What i was working from was

But i couldn't bear to leave it in the article.

I would guess "Italian federations" is supposed to mean "members of Italian labor unions", but i'm guessing.
