License?[edit]

Hi, "thewikipedian" - thanks for your contribution to the 4:3 and 16:9 pages! There's just one small problem... you have described the images Image:4_3_example.jpg and Image:16_9_example.jpg as being "Under GNU Licence". This is a little vague, since the FSF has released more than one license: the GNU GPL, the GNU LGPL and the GNU FDL, which all say different things. Since Wikipedia itself is covered under the GNU FDL, I assume that this is the license you mean. If so, can you just edit the image pages to include the following text? This will make it clear for anyone who wants to use your images what restrictions you have imposed on their use.

Metric[edit]

Hello - please do not switch the order of U.S. and metric in any article. Doing so introduces conversion errors and confusion. You should assume that figures given in articles are measured units, so please don't replace them with converted figures. Hey, same deal on the flux capacitor article. The movie used non-metric units, so it makes no sense to make that the secondary unit. It also doesn't need to be converted more than once in the same paragraph. —Charles O'Rourke 12:16, August 22, 2005 (UTC)

Currency[edit]

Hi. Please remember to write in complete sentences. I note that you started an article "Italian Lira"; we already had an article on "Lira" which had more information on the topic, so I made "Italian Lira" into a redirect to "Lira". (If some time in the future we have multiple paragraphs worth of info on the Italian Lira, it might be worth spinning off into a seperate article at that point.) Article Licensing[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1

To avoid flip-flopping between 'degree Fahrenheit' and 'Fahrenheit' or 'degree Celsius' and 'Celsius', I propose that we have a discussion on which we want. metric[edit]

I fully agree with you that as an internation and not american wikipedia we should favour metric usage, and I'm american. But I definitely have to draw the line at writing numbers in the European way, eg 134.562,23. Commas are for thousands, periods for fractions.--Josh Rocchio 14:31, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good work on the Spanish peseta! I am currently involved with making coin and banknote table consistent. You can take a look at New Taiwan dollar and Polish coins and banknotes and many other Asian currencies. If it's not too much, I would just ask you to standardize a little. Hello. I found that you tend to put the central banks for printers and mints on pre-euro currencies. Please note that often times, the printer and the mint are separate entities, or at least has its own name. So I have correct a few of those. For the ones I don't know, I put up {{fact}}.
