What about Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Maelstrom? The Fellowship of the Troll 20:28, 2 Feb 2004 (UTC)

OGRE isn't an RPG -- it's a wargame (although, granted, there is an OGRE RPG supplement for GURPS). Dana 06:06, Jun 1, 2004 (UTC)

How good an idea is the list of genres? I have no idea where to place a game like "Sorcerer", and even a 'typical' genre-piece like "My Life with Master" (very much influenced by the gothic horror master-minion relationship) doesn't reside very happily within one category with "Call of Cthulu" and "Vampire: The Masquerade". It seems to me that these genres do not really put like with like.

I don't know where to put Yang-Yin 13, I wonder if it even exists :-P Flammifer 14:10, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Rolemaster[edit]

Rolemaster is not actually one game, because there are different versions with very different rules (like AD&D 3.5). It should be subdivided into: RM2 and RMSS.

Fallout Series[edit]

Shouldn't the Fallout franchise be in the sci-fi section? It takes place between 2131-2231 and you get laser and plasma rifles and other futurristic stuff.

(Complaint withdrawn - I didn't realize there was a P&P version of Fallout, and people tend to use this list for computer/console games.) Probably. It seems more appropriate to me.

Eden Studios[edit]

Any link to Eden Studios on this topic redirects to a British recording studio. There should either be a page set up for the role-playing game publisher, or a non-working link to the publisher itself.

Everquest[edit]

Whoever it is that is removing Everquest from the list, please stop. There is a P&P verion of the game and the link dircts to an article about it. Avador 19:15, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The list currently at list of role-playing games should be moved to list of role-playing games by genre, and the list at list of role-playing games by name should be moved to list of role-playing games in its stead. -Sean Curtin 07:54, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How about moving this to ..by genre, keeping "by name" at ..by name and having just plain list of role-playing games as a dab page? Then if we get, say, list of role-playing games by publisher we can include it in the list on the dab page.

Inclusion criteria[edit]

The current article has lots of red links and external links. I'm going to go over this list with an eye to the Wikipedia:List guideline and Wikipedia:Lists (stand-alone lists). The relevent bit here being "Ideally each entry on the list should have a Wikipedia article." Are there any notable games that should be replaced if I've removed them? (Or not be removed if I'm slow.) - brenneman {L} 02:59, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I should have been more clear here that I'd be removing too-long informational lines after the listing. The information is (or should be!) in the parent article. - brenneman {L} 23:34, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Table of contents[edit]

It's big and ungly now, thanks to my recent pseudo-improvements. Can anyone work wonders with some fancy TOC template?

The Riddle of Steel[edit]

L-Zwei, any reason why you recently removed The Riddle of Steel? I'm not familiar with the game myself, but the Wikipedia article certainly seems to suggest it's a fantasy role-playing game, so am just curious as to the removal. Craw-daddy 07:36, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A question[edit]

I am trying to find the name of an RPG that I played back in the 80's. It featured U.S. army "characters", and the setting was Europe after a nuclear war. The main idea was to return to the USA. I also think (could be wrong) that the time setting was around 2000 or 1999. It had modules and eveything! Any ideas? Thanks! 216.208.38.26 (talk) 15:54, 18 April 2008 (UTC) Tommy T.[reply]

Don't remove entries[edit]

L-Zwei, please restore the previous version of the list. There a HUGE number of references without articles throughout Wikipedia. Just because there isn't an article on a particular RPG doesn't mean that someone won't add one at a later date. If you have another reason for removing the entries, then please let me know. Bill the Cat 7 (talk) 04:07, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and reverted it. If there is a good reason for removing the entries, then please discuss first. Thanks. Bill the Cat 7 (talk) 05:09, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism?[edit]

User:L-Zwei, please do not delete any entries in this article without first discussing it with other editors. You and many other editors disagree with your contention that some of the entries are not notable. If you continue to delete entries (this is the second time I'm reverting), I will have to report you to an administrator. I would much rather discuss any issues you have with entries that you consider non-notable, however. Thank you. Bill the Cat 7 (talk) 07:55, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, it was there way list operate (see WP:LIST and check article's history). Only two red link entries are allow here since they're part of World of Darkness series. If you don't want the entries to be removed, then write their article. L-Zwei (talk) 15:21, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what two red link entries have to do with "World of Darkness series". Please explain. Thanks. Bill the Cat 7 (talk) 18:38, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

While there is no article for either Mage: The Sorcerer's Crusade or Wraith: The Great War, both entries are part of World of Darkness (which has full article). L-Zwei (talk) 05:28, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Should be categories[edit]

As far as I can tell, since it's not supplying any but the most inconsistent and superficial information beyond genre, this whole list is superseded by categorization. That is, the "Fantasy genre" list should be exactly the same as the content of "Fantasy role-playing games", and so made obsolete by it. Just sayin'. —chaos5023 (talk) 19:24, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Similarly, I find the title "list of role-playing games by genre" to be ambiguous. This is a list of role-playing games by genre of fantasy. From the title, I was expecting this to be a list of role-playing games by genre of role-playing games. -- EsotericRogue Talk 10:53, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

F.A.T.A.L. ?[edit]

Shouldn't this example of terrible and exploitative RPG-design be added in the list? Many consider this to be the worst role playing game ever published and I think by that alone it should at least be mentioned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.142.158.234 (talk) 09:00, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sub-games?[edit]

Would sub-games such as Dark Heresy fit into this list, or would they be covered by the parent game (in this case, Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay)? --Cyberjacob (talk) 11:34, 21 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
