Letchworth is NOT a suburb[edit]

To whoever keeps doing it do NOT add Letchworth to the suburbs list again. It is not a suburb but merely a totally unofficial region within Queanbeyan. If you must have Letchworth in the article mention it as an area of Queanbeyan and not a suburb. There are only 13 suburbs and I do not expect the list to grow beyond that point. My street map tells me I live in Letchworth (ugh!). The RTA says I live in Queanbeyan West. The NRMA says I live in Crestwood. I tell people to address my mail to Queanbeyan. So confusing... Oak Flats was nice and straightforward! Alivicwil 00:28, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sport[edit]

Since when has Queanbeyan had a succesful AFL team? Don't worry, fixed it with replacing AFL, the major compititon of Australian Rules Football with, AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL! Now if someone wants to know what kind of sport the tigers play they will be redirected to the proper page

Water restrictions[edit]

I'll see if I can find a better citation for the water restrictions. I read it in the local newspaper, and the ACTEW site states -- "A service level agreement exists between ACTEW and Queanbeyan City Council. And the agreement states that Queanbeyan City Council will mirror current ACT water use regulations. Permanent Water Conservation Measures and any Temporary Water Restrictions will therefore be applied by Queanbeyan City Council as well." Full inscription[edit]

According to Rex Cross in Bygone Queanbeyan the oldest memorial stone in Queanbeyan is that to Anna Maria Faunce (born 30 November 1838) the eight month old daughter of Captain Alured Tasker Faunce. The inscription read: "To the memory of Anna Maria Faunce died 6th January 1839 aged 8 months. Bold infidelity turn pale and die/beneath this stone an infant's ashes lie/say is she lost or saved/if death is from sin, she sinned because she's here/If Heaven by works, in Heaven she can't appear/Reason Ah! Encyclopeadic?[edit]

Is the point of an entry about a town to describe the town, and its relevant information? Or to list every possible piece of information that can be found, and to do so without citing any of it? The article is a mess, is frequently vandalised (mainly along the theme of how Queanbeyan is the poorer cousin of Canberra) and full of plenty that has only a passing acquaintance with the 'notability' criteria. I'll try a re-write in the coming days. Please, if you have an issue with it, don't just undo the changes, let's discuss them, ok? We don't need piles of data on the page, such as what unit Faunce belonged to, or photos which are a bunch of trees with some houses on a hill in the distance. population ranking[edit]

The infobox has the ranking as 37th, and it links to cities by population. However, the lists have "Canberra-Queanbeyan" in the top 10 in both of them. Is this 37th from an old list or what it means? 85.217.41.84 (talk) 02:58, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
