If anyone wants to contribute a bit, please do. I figured this should be here so I made it an article.KanjiNinja 21:48, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Why have you created a page about Thottbot? Could you give your reasons why you feel it should be on Wikipedia?

- I think it's deserving of a page; It's a popular resource for a MMORPG with a population in the millions. I also think it needs fleshed out significantly.

Thottbot is notable because of the way in which it gathers stats (discussed on Terra Nova), which is so far unique among MMORPG information sites. 82.27.226.117 21:10, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thottbot is THE website for WoW information. WoW is the biggest MMO there is. Seems pretty important to me. -OOPSIE- 09:00, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Millions of people use the information on Thottbot, as well as the other data-gathering websites for MMORPGs. Surely that warrants a small amount of information on Wikipedia. I would personally love to read more about the relationship these websites have regarding their parent companies, there has been enough drama in that area that I expected to find some real facts here. Alright, if it's notable, let's find some reliable sources to prove it, people. "Thottbot is notable because WP:ILIKEIT" isn't going to cut it if someone sends this to AfD. (To be honest, I think thottbot/alla/wowace/etc should probably be on a list somewhere, or merged to a WoW Addons article, or something, but that's just my POV. spazure (contribs) (review) 09:33, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Further, yes, I looked for sources on my own via google, I found nothing but wowwiki references and a bunch of forum posts, but nothing that meets WP:V or WP:RS. spazure (contribs) (review) 09:36, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just another person saying they use thottbot on nearly a daily basis, and nearly everyone I know knows of the site and has used it. It constantly suprises me that wikipedia has references to unbelievably obscure things like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitespace_(programming_language) The whitespace programming language, but constantly puts articles that are concise and to the point on tools or places that millions of people use... as "Oh this article needs to get more attention". Hell thottbot is the answer to millions of questions. Where do I find Item x... Thottbot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.216.32.184 (talk) 18:41, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Move to a new article suggestion[edit]

Thottbot isn't unique (it may be the first tho) but WoWhead and Allakhazam use similar techniques to essentially do the same thing: extract data from the game by collecting data from players during play. I suggest a new article "MMO item database" (or something like that), with an introduction section explaining the purpose of these sites (to provide players with specific info on mobs, drops and quests etc), the technique used (plugin within the gameclient), pro's (collects items that can really be found in the game) and con's (droprates might be inaccurate for newly introduced items or items that drop under certain conditions). Then a list of each site could be given with strengths, weaknesses or features; Thottbot for being first, WoWhead for it's advanced filter features. It would then also be possible to include a section other MMO (as in not World of Warcraft) datacollection sites. What do you think? Felsir (talk) 11:12, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removing the Prod[edit]

I'm removing the proposed deletion. This article survived an afd just a few weeks ago Don't game the system: give it a bit of time. Watchsmart (talk) 04:30, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Be nice if some of the "articles by established scholars" mentioned in the AfD discussion would be referenced in the article..? --Stormie (talk) 07:04, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone else think there should be new classes in WoW?[edit]

I think a PIRATE class would be awesome. There's more than enough ocean out there and coastal cities to visit or plunder...both alliance and horde. Ideas?

I'm still holding out for Monk as a class, a Tank in Cloth, who wouldn't like this idea?
