Spelling[edit]

Why is this article called "Chimera (fish)", when all of the content refers to it as "Chimaera"? --Timc 21:13, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)

I just like the ae spelling, sorry :) --Obli 19:43, 8 Sep 2004 (UTC)

It has been suggested on Talk:Chimera#Chimaera? that that article, the dab page, be moved to Chimaera. This would imply moving this article back to Chimaera (fish). Please discuss. Septentrionalis 22:02, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's because there is two chimaera/chimera.:)2006

You know the mistical one and the fish.

No. The fish almost certainly gets its name from the mythical creature due to its mix of features from bony and cartilaginous fishes. --Belg4mit (talk) 14:34, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That would certainly be of value to the article. do you have any references? FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 20:13, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

do u know how long they live?

Ratfish[edit]

Would it be justifiable to add a reference to "ratfish" as a name? In this 1962 Golden Encyclopedia, that is the name they are listed under. ~Linuxerist E/L/T 02:21, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

yes to the ratfish question. also, anyone know why exactly these fish are called chimera? I don't see any resemblance to a goat, lion, or snake... haha. Robin Chen 04:50, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please fix the introduction[edit]

The introductory paragraph to Chimarea (fish) has been vandalized. Please fix the ludicrous comments made in the paragraph to correctly summarize this fascinating fish. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.106.203.202 (talk) 15:30, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism[edit]

This article needs to be cleaned up. There is evidence of vandalism everywhere. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fyu (talkcontribs) 06:35, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification[edit]

What are the bony traits ratfish possess? Is this mix responsible for (as posited above) their group? --Belg4mit (talk) 14:34, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Odd wording[edit]

"branched off from sharks nearly 400 million years ago and have remained isolated ever since."

What could they do but remind isolated? Evolutionary branches don't re-converge. Perhaps this is trying to say that they are the survivors of a larger grouping most of which is now extinct - like the monotremes? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.232.250.50 (talk) 12:30, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Diet[edit]

There should be something about diet, if known. Tony Holkham (Talk) 11:22, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
