Contradiction[edit]

"Whiskies and cognacs typically contain more of this than vodkas, but significantly less than rums or brandies."

Cognac is a brandy, therefore it is a contradiction to state that cognac, a brandy, contains less than brandy.

Is there's no one amongst Wikipedia's editors capable of intercepting this trivially self-contradictory statement? It would seem not. 81.156.104.123 (talk) 23:32, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's what the source says, sorta. Frankly, I think our phrasing here poorly summarizes the source and loses all nuance. That said, if the source doesn't correctly recognize the simple fact that cognac is a category of brandy, one must question the competence of the source. I would not object to removal of the passage or to removal of the source. oknazevad (talk) 03:25, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
