History Request[edit]

Yeah, I'm no contributor (only contributions are to Uncyclopedia, flame me if you must) but I'm in need of some history on the LVPD, specifically around the 90's. The SFPD Article has this, so I reckon it should be on here too. This to me looks more like a recruitment page with all it's "factual" yet seemingly glorifying information.

Also, something else that was on the SFPD article, I'm in need of information about what crimes in particular they have been tackling over the 90's. I'll search somewhere else but I'd have expected this info on wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.197.159.244 (talk) 22:12, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Expand request[edit]

  • Department history
    • What was it called before merging with the Clark County police? 75.165.62.12 (talk) 18:21, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • First Tuesdays of every month allow citizens to participate in a meeting at their specified area command regarding problems and opens lines of communication with Officers.
  • The various districts and details like SW Command covers 152 square miles
  • Maybe more on the command structure
  • Stuff on the various volunteer programs
  • Details on the crime lab, its canceled lease in 2005 and how that works out, its backlog, how it is different then portrayed on CSI
  • uniforms since this is a question on various talk groups
  • The bike patrol — Nicknamed Bumble Bees because of the bright yellow shirts with black letters "Metro Police" and the ability to move easily through the heavy traffic of the strip, and view occupants and items located in vechiles.
  • The canine unit
  • The Equinine unit
  • The air unit
  • Search and rescue

Add to as needed. Strike through when finished. Vegaswikian 06:30, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Las Vegas, NV Metropolitan Police.jpg[edit]

Image:Las Vegas, NV Metropolitan Police.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Deleted text[edit]

I've deleted the following text:

This resulted when the Clark County Sheriff's Department patrolled only the unincorporated areas of Clark County, thus no contract cities, and Clark County refusing to allow Las Vegas to annex Paradise, which includes the Las Vegas Strip. The concern of Las Vegas annexing Paradise would result in decrease of revenues for Clark County.

It is not written in easily comprehensible encyclopedic style English and needs a rewrite. However it does not cite any sources for its version of history, and I'm not entirely sure I understand the intended meaning sufficiently to do such a rewrite. And if there are no good cites, it might be wasted effort. -- Chris j wood (talk) 14:06, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible troll[edit]

At the end of the training section, something about jet packs and plasma rifles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.178.138.236 (talk) 22:01, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

LVMPD Structure[edit]

It doesn't show any insignia or a proper list of titles. Does anyone know what the Strucure is, and could possibly add a table with them inserted. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.241.2.74 (talk) 02:45, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Misconduct[edit]

I just removed four paragraph that named officers who (supposedly) did vile acts. They were uncited and I am uncomfortable allowing them to be out there without proof. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 06:53, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Misconduct article[edit]

Is it time to break off the misconduct section into its own article. It seems to have a life of its own. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 03:56, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It should be broken out. I've removed a lot of off-duty acts, low-level misconduct and events that never proceeded to trial. The article is supposed to be an encyclopedia article, not a litany of everything bad that the department or its officers ever did, and even after I've hacked it back, represents undue weight. Done, perhaps poorly done, but done. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 07:33, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
