Hi[edit]

Hi Joby. Nice to hear about your whereabouts. Your images are better added to commons.wikimedia.org than on wikipedia. That way they can be used across languages. The blue banded bee is probably not a stingless bee (Meliponines), I hope to have a confirmation from Doug Yanega and then it should move to the right place. Wikimedia Commons[edit]

Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! There is, however, another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view images you have previously uploaded by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'image' namespace from the drop down box). Beavers picture[edit]

I live in Rockville, Maryland. For the Beavers Huddled picture in the commons (not quite sure how to wikilink over there), you mentioned a culvert between a pond and a stream. I'm curious, is this Lake Needwood, Lake Frank or somewhere else in the Rock Creek watershed (or even outside the Rock Creek watershed.) Licensing photos[edit]

Hi, Badjoby. I notice that you are uploading photos to Wikipedia that are shown on a Flickr account. For example, File:Merlin feeding.jpg and File:Zebra Swallowtail.jpg. Unfortunately, the Flickr account shows that these photos are licensed as CC-By-NC-SA ([1]). NC (Non-commercial) licenses are not compatible with Wikipedia. Take a look at the chart at Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright for a quick overview. For these photos to be compatible with WP, the Flickr website licensing will need to be changed to CC-BY-SA or the photos can be donated to Commons through the OTRS procedure at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
