Is return type really part of the method signature? For example, if I make two methods inside a class, i.e. "String foo(int x)" and "int foo(int x)" the compiler will error out, saying I have duplicate methods (after all, how would the compiler know which to call?).

Return type isn't part of the method signature. Someone remove that, please. dobau (talk) 16:24, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Why should it be merged? Dysprosia 23:10, 26 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Isn't type signature talking about the same thing? "It defines the inputs and outputs for a function." -- Taku 05:46, Apr 28, 2004 (UTC)

Reversion of blank article[edit]

I don't know if the merge request is valid or not, but it wasn't carried out. In particular, the information about Objective-C wasn't included in the target page. So I reverted. Sympleko 11:08, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
