Merged from Talk:Kalinga[edit]

Interestingly Kalinga is also name of an ancient Indian dynasty which ruled parts of south-east areas ( currently known as Orissa & Andhra) around 200 B.C. Madanmv (talk) 14:26, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 27 October 2015[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Article moved. (talk page will be moved when the target page is deleted; I didn't notice the existing page history when I moved the article) (non-admin closure) kennethaw88talk 04:40, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

KalingaKalinga (province) – As noted on the disambiguation page there are a number of other uses for this article's name. When googling for Kalinga from India, the province in the Philippines sees no mention at all in the first 10 pages. When searching from elsewhere, reference to the province does make it to the first page. The Indian kingdom/region is prominently positioned on the first page in both cases. I think it might be best to therefore move this page to Kalinga (province) (like Aurora (province)) and move Kalinga (disambiguation) to Kalinga. • Support. The ancient state is as important as the modern province. Kalinga, Philippines would probably be a better choice than Kalina (province), since the ancient Kalinga was also a province in some of the larger Indian empires. utcursch | talk 21:17, 27 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support move to Kalinga (province) and Kalinga (disambiguation) to Kalinga. Based on google books results and actual wikiarticle page views, there is no primary topic for the term "Kalinga". Kalinga (province) is also an accurate disambiguation as it is the only current province with the name, and also following WP:MOSPHIL for articles on Philippine provinces that are ambiguous.--RioHondo (talk) 03:38, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. There is no primary topic. Also, I disagree with other move suggestions as the other geographical Kalingas are not primarily known as provinces. —seav (talk) 05:56, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Take note that Kalinga (disambiguation) has not yet been moved to Kalinga. Only an admin can do the move. --Jojit (talk) 04:53, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have closed several moves just like this, and usually tag the resulting redirect with {{db-move}}, but my process was interrupted when I realized I hadn't even moved this talk page. I will make sure the disambiguation page gets moved in the end. kennethaw88talk 04:58, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Kalinga (province)[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Kalinga (province)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
