Otacons Grandfather[edit]

Is it certain that the data for Metal Gear is sent by Granin to Otacon's father in America? In Ocelot's phone call at the end of MGS3, he contacts the director of the CIA and while discussing the destruction of Granin's lab, mentions this:

"Speaking of which, I've obtained something from Granin that you might find interesting. It's a revolutionary new nuclear attack system. Perhaps it might just come in handy some day."

It seems like Ocelot options the plans for REX to America right here.

Perhaps the plans were sent to Otacon's father AND America?
It is probable that it was sent to both! I am unsure, how is it that Big Boss, and his designers cam across plans for Metal Gear? It would seem that they recieved the plans ocelot stole whereas the plans for more advanced Metal Gears were recieved by Otacons Grandfather! This would explain the items you see in Granins office, including both TX-55 models and REX's! --The Pain 22:44, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Russian Project Choice[edit]

This article states that the shagohad was chosen as the greater project! Did Volgin not infact state that he found Granins Project simply too time consuming? --The Pain 22:44, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Unless I missed part of the game or some hidden conversation, I'm fairly sure that Volgin never actually talks about Granin except for the scene where he kills him (and then it's reference to him maybe-being-the-spy). The Timeturner 22:30, August 22, 2005 (UTC)
Though it is a passing comment i remember at a scene during the end of the game volgin states that the project run by Granin was too time consuming. If someone could just liste nand check this. --The Pain 22:14, 23 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
The closest thing I found to what you were talking about is this line: "But that worthless fool Granin failed to produce results and I was forced to turn to Khrushchev's dog Sokolov and his invention - the Shagohod." It seems that Volgin himself gave Granin a time limit of some sort (or more aptly a deadline) for results on his proto-Metal Gear REX designs, and Granin failed to produce results in time for Volgin's planned overthrow of Kruschev.. --The Timeturner 23:49, August 25, 2005 (UTC)
That is the one that i was refering to. It backs up the point that the Shagohad was not chosen because it was the greater idea as stated in the article. --The Pain 06:35, 1 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
