Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Matt Lovato (0th nomination)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Matt Lovato, along with Steve Lovato, Nick Gigler, Jeremiah Rangel and Tony Lovato, was proposed for deletion. This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was ambiguous, so I redirected all to Mest. —No-One Jones (m) 17:26, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Not notable except for involvement in band - which is already listed. Mattley 21:22, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Note: we just recently deleted Matt's girlfriend (see Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Lydia Wilson). I'm not sure why you're singling Matt out—the whole band is here. Also in the band are Steve Lovato, Nick Gigler, Jeremiah Rangel (stubs), and Tony Lovato. To prevent multiple listings, anybody that thinks these all should be deleted ought to specifiy "delete all." Cool Hand Luke 22:31, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • And on that note, delete all. However, use these articles as a source to possibly add details to Mest (do not copy, do not merge). Cool Hand Luke 22:36, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • On second thought, I'm neutral on this. They apparently have significant following. Oh, and Tony's girlfriend was recently deleted too. (see Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Lourdes Trujillo). Anyway, I'm adding VfD to all of them, redirecting here, and changing the title of this vote. Cool Hand Luke 22:45, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
      • Delete all. Band does indeed seem to have following but the individual articles don't add anything. Wasn't singling out the first guy, by the way. I thought perhaps they had to be dealt with one at a time since Lydia Wilson and Lourdes Trujillo were handled that way. Mattley 23:23, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete all. Their notability coincides with the band's and is better kept to that page, unless someone improves these articlea to make the individuals' notability clear. Niceguyjoey 00:39, Nov 11, 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete all: Not notable outside of their band, not topics outside of their band, not proper breakouts, and the band itself is not notable. Voila: delete all. Geogre 01:17, 11 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep, I think if the band is notable enough, its members must be notable too. I don't know if the band really is notable, because I haven't heard of it, but I object in principle to deleting articles on these people if we're operating under the assumption that Mest is notable. It's not hard to imagine a dedicated fan coming along and writing some good bio articles here. Everyking 03:58, 11 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • Ok, if we're deleting these, we should also delete Mest. So I cast a vote for its deletion too, or somebody ought to nominate it so I can. If a band is notable, so are its members, just as its albums are, and we have album articles. Everyking 20:32, 11 Nov 2004 (UTC)
      • I don't believe this is always the case. Mest is probably notable (apparently having sold hundreds of thousands of records), and I think the members might well be too, but isn't it concievable that a band is barely notable, but not all of its members? Or that a company is barely notable, but not its founder/president? I see the two as analogous. Cool Hand Luke 08:47, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete all. Some fan of Mest should quick merge all these separate pages into separate paragraphs or sections on the Mest page. I would not want all of the equivalent information on my favorite band the Alban Berg Quartet spread out onto separate pages with such a dearth of non-notable information. As Geogre says--not notable outside of their band. And the same would be true of the Alban Berg Quartet. ---Rednblu | Talk 05:32, 11 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Unless someone can provide clear evidence of notability separate from the band, delete all. Average Earthman 10:04, 11 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete all -- not notable (yet). --Improv 15:02, 11 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete all - To Everyking: often the whole is more notable than its parts. -- Cyrius| 23:32, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • No Vote - The band seems notable enough, so I have added all the information from these pages to Mest. The Steve 09:57, Nov 13, 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Or redir (merge has already been done thanks to The Steve) to Mest, until such time as that article grows large enuf to justify break-outs. Niteowlneils 19:13, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
