Confusing phrase[edit]

"...the plane was came into a smoke"? What does this mean? Halidecyphon 21:28, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Passengers "crying"?[edit]

Should this be "screaming"? Crying seems like a strange reaction, and too quiet to show up on a recording.

What a horrible, horrible sound.

Presumably they were "crying out". Indications are that this article was not written by someone completely au fait with English and we should make allowances. --Jumbo 07:53, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Passenger numbers[edit]

Does the "53 passengers" include the six crew members? I have assumed so in adding the info into the summary template. --Jumbo 07:53, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That's correct. Here's a Chinese news story on the article- http://www.hbtv.com.cn/news/2006-10/02/content_855837.htm

In it, it states 47 passengers, 6 crew members and 2 on the ground died in this tragedy. --anon

Schedule timing[edit]

I'm confused. The wiki article says that the plane departed 15 min. ahead of schedule, yet said the crew arrived just 20 minutes before scheduled departure. How can that be? --anon

Wrong Airline[edit]

This was not an China Eastern Airline Flight. It war operated by China Yunnan Airlines. http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=20041121-0 Niesy74 (talk) 20:04, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

China Yunnan Airlines merged into China Eastern Airlines in 2003, so the aircraft was operating for China Eastern at the time, not China Yunnan. Meltdown627 (talk) 18:30, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Explosion?[edit]

The article says that witnesses reported seeing the plane explode in mid-air. Is that consistent with an icing problem being the cause of the accident?Bill (talk) 00:41, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
