Welcome and thanks[edit]

Hi there Andrejj! Welcome to Wikipedia.

Thanks for creating University of Zagreb, that page has been on my to-do list for ages now, you did a great job in one quick swoop. :)

If you have any questions, see the help pages or add a question to the village pump. You can also ask lowly Wikipedians like myself if you need anything.

Thanks again and good luck. --Joy [shallot] 14:56, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Thanks, beside small changes, this is my first attempt in English Wiki. I hope there's no bigger mistake, although article can still be improved. I'am rather working in Slovene Wikipedia. --andrejj 15:12, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Image replaced and up for deletion[edit]

Hi, I've replaced the image Image:Sign diameter.jpg, uploaded by you, with Image:Sign diameter.png because PNG is a more suitable format for images with no photographic content. The original image has been listed for deletion—hope this is OK. –Mysid 07:21, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:University of zagreb Coat.gif)[edit]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:University of zagreb Coat.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 22:44, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Category:International Judges of Chess Compositions[edit]

I think that adding usual wikipedia categories listing usual articles to user pages is not good idea, so much for Category:International Judges of Chess Compositions on my user page. On the other hand, I am sure there are many more important chess composition judges and chess composers deserving their own Wikipedia entries than me. Maybe once I will be at the beginning of the queue :-) Ruziklan 22:17, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please read WP:BIO, and ask yourself if this article establishes notability for the individual. If it doesn't, you can add the persons notability, however you must include sources so it can be verified. --Porqin 13:25, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Generally a persons homepage isn't the best source for information that is to be included inside an encyclopedia. Reading his homepage, I don't see what makes him notable enough to be inlcuded in an encyclopedia. --Porqin 13:31, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jakopin[edit]

Hi,

The expertise of this gentleman is outside of my own range of abilites; however, I noted problems with his article because of the nature of the sources given: the lack of English language sources does raise possible verifiability problems at English Wikipedia. I freely admit that I have no firm opinion here, and am using the deletion processes as a means to solicit involvement of editors more knowledgeable of this area. The PRODing, by the way, was done by me after removing a speedy deletion tag. Now that you have contested the PROD, I must decide whether to proceed to an AfD. (In Slovenian for the sake of simplicity) Tale članek ima kar zanimivo zgodovino brisanja. Enkrat je bil zbrisan kot copyvio, enkrat pa po postopku AfD. Slednji je imel tole vsebino (brez predlog):

An impossible puzzle is a puzzle that cannot be solved by following its directions or criteria.

Example of an impossible puzzle[edit]

There are six circles, three on top and three on the bottom arranged in a two-by-three manner. Each circle contains a letter. The top left-hand circle contains the letter A. The top middle circle contains the letter B. The top right circle contains the letter C. The bottom left-hand circle contains the letter X. The bottom middle circle contains the letter Y. And the bottom right circle contains the letter Z. The idea is to draw three paths from A (one to each of X, Y, & Z), draw three paths from B (to X, Y, & Z), and three paths from C (to X, Y, & Z), so that no two paths cross each other. Using a third dimension or going through a letter is illegal.

Še kaj v zvezi s tem rabiš? LP --Tone 08:51, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ne, mišljeno je bilo predvsem v smislu preverjanja, preden kdo predlaga članek za brisanje - tako kot predlagajo nizozemsko različico, ker da je besedilo uganke copyvio. --AndrejJ 10:41, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

LP --Tone 10:50, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

--AndrejJ 11:02, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Little context in Valerian Onitiu[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Valerian Onitiu, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Valerian Onitiu is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Valerian Onitiu, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 21:31, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Valerian Onitiu[edit]

An editor has nominated Valerian Onitiu, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Valerian Onitiu and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:44, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Jolanda Ceplak fotofinis.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 00:03, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In future, do not blank my edits without leaving some form of explanation either on the talk page or the edit summary. It matters not whether I am right or wrong in the affair, an edit struggle will ensue until whoever is right can start to explain himself. Empty passages mean nothing. I had a genuine reason to believe that the map may have been created by Zmago, and that someone may have misquoted his name; sadly, I hadn't hitherto heard of Zdravko, and his name clearly doesn't have an article on WP, and his writings in 1987 are not exactly an indication that he lived 200 years before Zmago either. But by unexplainedly undoing an edit, you've made it look like I have commited vandalism which I never do. So please use the edit summary to explain your reverts. Agreed draw vs. threefold repetition draw[edit]

You seem to be confused with some of the rules of chess as demonstrated in your edits to 38th Chess Olympiad. A draw by agreement is when both players mutually decide to end the game with a drawn result at any time. A threefold repetition is a technical draw where one player makes a claim to the arbiter that a position has been repeated three times, and then the arbiter will confirm this and declare the game over and the result a draw. The rules of the 38th Olympiad prohibit draw by agreement before the 30th move. That rule does not cover draws by repetition in any way, nor should it. They are two entirely different outcomes, in terms of the application of this rule. Thus your addition to the article makes no sense. It is kind of like saying "Tournament players were not allowed to wear red to the event. Yet, Vladimir Kramnik showed up wearing blue!" Do you see how that is nonsense, and is confusing to the reader? --SubSeven (talk) 21:23, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not confused. What it your opinion about the following (extreme) game: 1. Nf3 Nc6 2. Ng1 Nb8 3. Nf3 Nc6 4. Ng1 Nb8 5. Nf3 Nc6 6. Ng1 Nb8 draw. Is this: a) threefold repetition b) hidden agreement or c) joking with the arbiter!?
See: Draw_by_agreement#Steps_taken_to_discourage_draws_or_short_draws
In 1962 FIDE reinstated a version of the rule against draws by agreement in fewer than thirty moves, with the director allowing them in exceptional circumstances. FIDE had the intention of enforcing the rule and the penalty was a loss of the game by both players. However, players ignored it or got around it by intentional threefold repetition. --AndrejJ (talk) 21:38, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you're alleging that Khenkin and Wotjaszek pre-arranged their game, then you should come out and say it (I hope you have a source for it). Games being drawn by repetition in fewer than 30 moves is something that has always occurred now and then; it is not a phenomenon created by any FIDE anti-draw rules. So, just the fact that there was a game out of thousands that was quickly drawn by repetition is not in any way noteworthy. --SubSeven (talk) 23:00, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I (and nobody except players) can't say nothing about agreement. I was just pointing to the short (shortest?) game. --AndrejJ (talk) 05:26, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:40, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
