Routing of U.S. Route 1[edit]

Black and white districts[edit]

A recent edit to the article added the following:

14th Street was chosen as the dividing line betweeb white and black districts by city planners when the District was becoming more integrated.

This article should be split[edit]

Separate articles would be overkill. The article is almost entirely about 14th St NW and even what's there is barely enough for a whole article. There's plenty of room for all of the 14th streets here.

Wikipedia does this all of the time. For example, see Gloria (song) which covers several completely different songs called "Gloria", several of which were recorded by many different artists. They don't all need their own article. This article is no where near that extreme. It's more like the article Amadeus which talks about both the play and the movie. --

Amadeus is about two closely-related topics. That is not true for 14th Street - the streets have nothing in common other than their name. What about I-95? This is not a contiguous; in New Jersey it is two separate roads, yet it has a single article. The four 14th Streets (I maintain that each quadrant is a separate street) have more in common that the name. They're all north-south streets and they're all the same distance from the Capitol. Admitedly that's not much, but that's about all that's notable about the eastern versions of the street. --

I-95 is meant to be the same road, and will be. There would not be two separate articles about, say, N Street North (or even East Capitol Street) because of gaps. Okay, you may have convinced me about the need for distinct articles, but I don't think "14th Street West" is a good name because no one calls it that and the capital W is wrong because West isn't part of a proper name. You'd most likely hear people talk about "northwest and southwest 14th streets".
