"Since gaining its independence, Russia ..." This may be another dumb question from me, but would "Since gaining its sovereignty" be a better expression ? I don't think independence was gained, but the Soviet Union dissolved and Russia was able to control its/her own fate. Russia didn't 'break off' from the Soviet Union, as for instance the Baltic states did. I ain't sure, so I'm not changing it myself. -- PFHLai 09:33, 2005 Apr 20 (UTC)

Suggested replacement pic[edit]

I suggest using Image:FED3-4.jpg as a replacement image for this "featured blurb" (I'm currently browsing through them, and some are still protected from when they were on the main page - shouldn't the protection have been removed?). Carcharoth 22:17, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
