This page should contain a comparison of verne's vision to actual submarine technology. Many of his predictions came true. And many others did not. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.201.160.2 (talk) 16:42, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"The Nautilus was designed and commanded by Captain Nemo, removed spoiler on who Nemo is"

That's not in the Novel! Wasn't it an invention of Alan Moore for his "League" graphic novel? -- 81.136.174.68 22:01, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Read Captain Nemo, there is more than one novel. --Error 22:48, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I'll do that :) --81.136.174.68
What a shame. I had planned on reading "Mysterious Island" to find out more about Nemo, and this article totally spoiled it :( There was no reason to spoil who Nemo is in an article about the submarine, much less without a spoiler warning. -- Stbalbach 04:09, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Poor boy. Better you don't read Wikipedia or you read Encyclopedia first in order to realize what Wikipedia is all about? :p The spoiler warning in en.wikipedia is one of the most childish elements we should get rid ASAP (at least one other large language section did and is very happy about that). I dislike spoiler tags as well, but there is no reason to blow the central plot in this article - even professional encyclopedias are sensitive to that kind of stuff. Other articles cover the plot details. -- Stbalbach 20:39, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't the LXG Nautilus be shown? It's a good image and I don't think it's copyrighted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.247.244.120 (talk) 18:49, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The picture sucks. Someone should put a different one up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.71.166.34 (talk) 15:15, 24 March 2009 (UTC) Yeah the picture is a peice of shit.[reply]

In the novel Captain Nemo shows the professor a blue print of the vessel and tells the professor that he had the parts built all over the world and either sent to or he transported them to a deserted island. Also Nemo Says that he and his crew assembled the vessel thus making it his and it is continually said that he in fact is the commander of the vessel. Also since he goes into the details of the vessel he is arguably the designer of the vessel. Just read the book. CaptianNemo (talk) 03:07, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Under the "Appearances" heading, it says "In the 1954 film and The Return of Captain Nemo...". That date is incorrect. It should read "In the 1978 film and The Return of Captain Nemo..." WadeWonline (talk) 23:55, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nautilus model at Anaheim Disneyland?[edit]

In the late 1950's the Disneyland at Anaheim, CA, had a superb large (circa 5-foot) model of the Nautilus used in making the movie "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" (1954). Does that still exist? An image of it would be a great addition to this article.

Answer: Between 1955 and 1966 Disneyland featured an exhibit of sets and props used in the 1954 Disney film. It included the 11 foot Hero model used for shooting all undewater scenes. That model is the only known production model remaining from the film. Disney stores it most of the time, but occasionally exhibits it in public, though it is very fragile.
