Lérida tiene mas valor histórico que Lleida? User:80.58.51.172

Sí, es el nombre más etimológico:
  • Ilerda

Note that the modern names are at the top of the article, and the ancient names are at the bottom. There is no need to repeat this information in the middle. In my opinion, Lleyda is not significant. The letters y and i were used chaotically in previous centuries, so it does not represent anything different from Lleida. Chameleon 17:00, 5 Jun 2004 (UTC)

The references to the dialecte are absurd. This is like to explain that of course in Liverpool the people speak with a British accent (?). The logical is speak about this in the province of Lleida linking there to Occidental Catalan.

No, it is not like that. There is no such thing as a British accent. Pointing out a feature of Lleidatà Catalan is like pointing out that in Liverpool they often speak with a rising intonation. You seem to be trying to imply that Western Catalan is homogenous. Valencian is in the western group, but here in Valencia everybody says el, els. It is valid to point out a feature of local speech. If you wish to add info about Western Catalan, then do so, but don't try to make out that what I have put is wrong. — Chameleon My page/My talk 11:44, 8 Jul 2004 (UTC)

And please stop politics. The two names, Spanish and Catalan are absolutly correct in the respective languages. The comments about the two forms are ridiculous and aplicable to any other site in any other language. The official form in one and the people use the two in their own languages. Like in Perpignan, for example. It's not difficult understand this.

No, politics is important. The comments about "offical" names are not made innocently. They are weaselly additions made by Catalan nationalists to attempt to erode the validity of the Castilian names of places in Catalonia. Just as Francoists made only Castilian names official and tried to suppress everything else as dialectal and unofficial, so separatists do the same now in the opposite direction. I won't stand for it. The information about "Lleida" being used in Spanish can be in the article only if counter-balanced so that it is not implied that the Spanish name is in any way less valid. — Chameleon My page/My talk 11:44, 8 Jul 2004 (UTC)

No mention of Cerdanya/Cerdagne is this article? --Wetman 21:32, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Do you mean "la Cerdera"? --Peris 18:38, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Notes and comments to discuss[edit]

The main activities at the city of Lleida are commerce and services, followed by industry. Agriculture is not such an important activity in this city, though indeed it is very important for the smaller towns of around. The tourism in this city is almost inapreciablee, but not in the mountains that are to more than 100 km of Lleida.

La Cerdanya is a sub-region in the province of Lleida, I think it has nothing to do in an article of the city. There are a lot of another regions like that around of Lleida.213.97.224.180 16:07, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lérida vs Lleida[edit]

I've elliminated Lérida in the begin of the articl because the only and official name of that city is Lleida. Lérida was imposed during the Franco's dictatorship and nowdays nobody says "Lérida", even the spanishspeakers.--Asfarer (talk) 14:11, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously? 1.--188.84.59.106 (talk) 15:12, 17 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn’t matter what’s “official,” it matters what’s most common in English. And as long as we’re talking “official,” Spanish is an official language in that area, and Lérida is the Spanish name. True, it’s much less used in Spain now due to associations with nationalist oppression, but the fact remains it’s a name in the official language of the country, and, arguably, used almost as much, if not more, in English. —Wiki Wikardo 16:46, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Only inside spain territory, less Catalonia is allowed the use of Lérida, otherwise if you speak spanish, born, and lives outside the spanish territory, you must use Lleida. Please, consider to move article to Lleida and revert your modifications, and if you prefere attach a note about the use of Lérida in the territory of Spain (mainland only).Rbuj
Lérida is not an invention. It's an evolution as valid as Catalan's from Latin Ilerda Daniwhite2408 (talk) 10:19, 11 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That certainly seems like complete nonsense. Cf. Spanish Wiki's comfort with parking their page at es:Lérida. — LlywelynII 12:47, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I see that User:Pabloraboso has created File:España_Lleida_Ayuntamiento_2019.svg. It might be useful for this article. --Slashme (talk) 12:01, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
