Untitled[edit]

Is the Maria Valera bridge across the Danube linking Esztergom in Hungary and Slovakia named after the Archduchess?

==[edit]

The bridge was hand over Sept 28, 1895 at first time; and it's really name for Archduchess Marie Valerie with Franz Josef's permission. The bridge is between Esztergom in Hungary and Párkány in Slovakia. Its lenght was 496 meter in 1895, now it's 514 meters.

A dubious statement[edit]

Valerie's solemn renunciation of her rights to the Austrian throne, which was necessary for the marriage to proceed, took place on July 16, 1890 at the Hermes Villa.

I seriously doubt this is true. First of all, the Archduchesses had no succession rights to the Austrian throne. Also, her husband was an Archduke of Austria himself and was in the line of succession. I don't see why the renunciation was necessary, is she had any succession rights at all. But it's true. Marie Valerie had done the renunciation and wrote about it in her diary. There are some pictures about the renunciation, which took place in June 1890. --62.47.184.101 (talk) 15:57, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
