I understood a Hovercraft to be a ground effect vehicle, not an aircraft, so moved it to the off-road category, though it could go in the hybrid category, except that is more for vehicles with different methods of propulsion for different surfaces. A Hovercraft only has one method of propulsion but can travel on land, on and off roads, and water. -- kiwiinapanic 09:10 5 Jul 2003 (UTC)

The characterization of forms of movement without a vehicle such as walking and swimming as transport seems not quite right to me. Maybe these forms should be summarized under locomotion.

transport is simply movement. There is a whole field devoted to non-motorized transportation. (Google it) dml 04:46, 12 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
No it's not. Transport, according to my dictionary, is "the conveyance of goods or people from one place to another ... the means of conveyance for getting from place to place"; in other words, there's an element of "carrying something" in transport, whereas movement relates simply to a change of location, by means of some form of locomotion. Crawling, running, swimming and walking are all forms of locomotion, just like (for example) skipping, jumping, jogging, sprinting, ambling, trotting, galloping ... The article already links to locomotion, where crawling, running, swimming and walking are all mentioned. They're not means of transport and don't belong here, so I've removed them. Many people carry things when they walk, or swim so it does count.- (User) Wolfkeeper (Talk) 01:33, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Exotic transport systems[edit]

Is there any article about exotic transport systems that does not fit with the existing specialized articles?--Nixer 20:46, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
