Links[edit]

First off, if you want to balance out the links section add some link you think are in support of Cheney, or whatever. But do not delete the links there. They are mostly Salon because Salon has been one of the only groups to delve into the life of Cheney. You can fix the problem of the inbalance of links by adding ones to balance them out, not by deleting them. StoptheBus18 18:36, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Biased Links[edit]

Encyclopedia entries should not have a political slant whether it be from the left or right. They should only be about facts, not opinions. This is why the Salon "articles" are inappropriate. Having an equal number of far left pieces and far right pieces may be balanced but it is not informative.

Busted link[edit]

I took this link off, it no longer pulls up the pirate pdf version of the novel - I would presume because of the legal liabilities involved.

Lockheed Martin[edit]

I think someone should add a few lines about her position on the board of Lockheed Martin until January 5th, 2001. She stayed on the board when Cheney became vice-president, and only left when people started complaining about the obvious conflit of interest. 65.95.83.10

"After Cheney left the organization..."[edit]

Is the "After Cheney left the organization, the American Council of Trustees and Alumni released..." paragraph relevant? One-dimensional Tangent (Talk) 16:44, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Mary Cheney[edit]

This article stated that Mary Cheney was born in 1968, while Mary Cheney says 1969. I've changed the year here to match, but if it is incorrect it should be fixed in both articles. Wrathchild 15:55, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do we really need to know who her daughter's partner, let alone anything about her?

American Council of Trustees and Alumni[edit]

"In 1995 she founded American Council of Trustees and Alumni a hypocritical conservative group that monitors American colleges and academia which criticizes schools offering "liberal" courses such as Chicano or African American studies as independent majors."

Just a bit of a POV issue. Changed to: "In 1995 she founded American Council of Trustees and Alumni a conservative group that monitors American colleges and academia." Perhaps someone can expanded upon this in discussing (in a NPOV) the purpose or mission of the ACTA.

Comparison to Laura Bush - Still Valid?[edit]

Since the intro had its last overhaul, in October 2004, the role played by Laura Bush has evolved, and I wonder whether it is still correct to introduce Lynne Cheney's article with:

"Within the George W. Bush administration, Lynne Cheney is regarded as being quite politically involved and is a vocal supporter of Republican party politics and politicians. In this respect she is somewhat of a contrast to First Lady Laura Bush who has largely distanced herself from overt partisanship."

For that matter, Mrs. Cheney has been significantly less visible than in the early days of the administration, and I wonder how better she might be described. Robertissimo 09:55, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict with Mary Cheney current residence[edit]

Under Lynne Cheney's family section it states that her daughter Mary Cheney currently lives in Colorado where Mary Cheney's own wiki page states she lives in Portland Oregon. I would suggest to remove the current residence from the Lynne Cheney page alltogether since those details are not as important to Lynne's page and would prevent further conflicts that will no doubt arise again in the future.

Book description[edit]

Under the list of Cheney's books there is a characterization of the novel "Sisters" as a pornographic book. This is not correct, the book is not pornographic. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.202.97.219 (talkcontribs) .

I removed the description as it has its own article and people can read the description there. -- zzuuzz (talk) 02:27, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wyoming U.S. Senate Seat vacancy[edit]

There are no citations listed at all for the section claiming that Mrs. Cheney is being considered for the vacancy in the Senate. Quacks Like a Duck 14:31, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation[edit]

Invitation

Dear Ms. Cheney,

Pictured I believe is the Fine Arts building where my father served as superintendent for some number of years, and the 4-H building?, not sure.

I don't know if you and your staff monitor this article, but I would like to invite you and your family to the great Minnesota Get Together at the Minnesota State Fair to be held August 21, 2008 to September 1, 2008 in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, in the United States of America. I myself do not plan to attend as I live most of the year in San Diego, California in the U.S. But I have some experience with the event, having sold hot dogs on a stick there during college. I hope you enjoy yourselves if you can make it. Yes, there is a Cheney from Minnesota. I myself have never met the gentleman, but I did see him perfom one night in Minneapolis, Minnesota, also in the U.S., at First Avenue which at the time was one of the world's premiere music venues. I couldn't stay long but thought there was more there than meets the eye.

Take care and best wishes, -Susanlesch (talk) 08:16, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi again. I will try to send this U.S. mail tomorrow or the next day. Thanks to the editors and User:Elkman who is one of the sysops here. Best wishes. -Susanlesch (talk) 15:42, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Political views[edit]

First of all, I added a reference to the Wyoming seat section. Someone had mentioned it on the talk page that it needed one. Anyway, the only item under the political views section in the article is gay marriage. This section needs to either be expanded or removed. Listing one particular item amounts to POV. I'm glad she doesn't support the ammendment, but stating that without reference to her other views on being pro-life, the War in Iraq, etc. is odd.AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 16:30, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What are the implications for the Wikipedia page if a female Vice President is elected?[edit]

With the selection of Sarah Palin as John McCain's Vice Presidential candidate, I think we should come to terms with the fact that the spouse of the President and/or Vice President will not always be a "Lady." We need to amend this sexed language to make it gender neutral. If McCain-Palin is elected, Sarah Palin's husband, Todd Palin, will not be a "Second Lady," but rather a "Second Gentleman." On the successor/predecessor boxes we use on Wikipedia, we should consider changing "First Lady" to "First Spouse" and "Second Lady" to "Second Spouse" to make room for this likely future occurrence. --130.108.192.34 (talk) 07:24, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
