Template talk:Death year category header

Template:Death year category header is permanently protected from editing because it is a heavily used or highly visible template. Substantial changes should first be proposed and discussed here on this page. If the proposal is uncontroversial or has been discussed and is supported by consensus, editors may use {{edit template-protected}} to notify an administrator or template editor to make the requested edit. Untitled[edit]

Over the course of this template's history, there has been a fair amount of change in its default recategorisation scheme. Originally, the years were unsorted. Then, they were sorted by their last digit. Later, they were changed to no sort by letter (i.e. [[Category:1xx0s births| {{PAGENAME}}]]. As of this writing they are all sorted under the asterisk, as are lists ([[Category:1xx0s births|*{{PAGENAME}}]]). It was first added directly to the categories, later to this template. Apparently this is one way that still displays them twice. -- User:Docu

Please use the new title for moved year articles in categories such as 420 deaths. I have mocked up the change in a sandbox (diff).
