FitzGerald[edit]

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Dukes of Leinster are called "FitzGerald", not "Fitzgerald". I suppose all the pages should be edited and moved. Proteus 15:53 GMT, 15th January 2004

the arms[edit]

The coat of arms shown has a viscount's coronet. Is that because all the higher titles are Irish? —Tamfang 02:20, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm teach me to run this with gfx disabled. It is possible that the Duke sought a(n) (English) grant of arms as he may never have had any previous grant. The Irish titles existing before grants were normal so likely assumed some time around the original titles. However I can't find anything to say so. Would be very interesting to know if Garter would only grant Arms according to English titles and Ulster Irish etc [This] suggests that the form we expect exists but under what grant.Alci12 20:57, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Family trees from the 1st creations[edit]

I have lots of research on these specific (1st & 2nd creation) ancestries. (Genealogies; Coronets; ribbons; lozenge; arms, & etc), although it may take me some time, I can re-create genealogical trees of most of the (1st creation) descendants/ancestors, if required &/or requested??? Irish Constitution[edit]

@SeoR just starting a talking point on this page so users can discuss this matter. You claimed that the Irish Constitution does not prohibit the continued existence of titles of nobility sourced from a foreign invasion. Could you read Article 40 and come back to me about that?

Can I pick your brain about a few other things, as it seems we have different opinions on the connection between "Duke of Leinster" and the current, independent status of Leinster.

What specific patents for so-called peers of Ireland are you refering to? What "little" bit of standing do these titles have in Ireland?
