Question

Rescue of Otto Frank

We've just added this page to NZHistory.net.nz about the ship that rescued Otto Frank. Is this worth adding as an External Link in the article?Jamie Mackay (talk) 03:31, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Third Frank Daughter?

In the body of the World War II section, the Franks are described as having had a third daughter, unnamed, who died of typhus during their move from Frankfurt:

On their journey they encountered many obstacles, such as their third daughter, newly born to die of typhus.

I am preparing a timeline of the Frank Family for a museum exhibit, and can find no verification anywhere that the Franks had a third daughter. The closest I have come is the that it is possibly being confused with Meip's younger sister, mentioned briefly in her memoir Anne Frank Remembered. The citations at the bottom of the paragraph make no mention of the third daughter.

Does anyone know the source of this information? If not, should it be deleted? If there is a valid source, please cite. This is either a vital addition to the topic, or a serious factual error. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.49.73.37 (talk) 18:28, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Anne Frank house donated - the money was used to purchase the house next door

Otto Frank - Family History

I am beginning to research the family of Otto Frank, who would have been approximately my grandfather's age. My grandfather was a Herbert Frank, and our Jewish family is also originally from the Frankfurt area. My mother claimed to have been a relative, but my aunt says that we are not. Swiss children

"...moved to Basel, Switzerland, where he had family, including children with whom he shared his experiences", can be read as implying that further children were born to him and his second wife in Switzerland and that he shared his experiences only with them, both of which seem very unlikely. I edited it to "...both moved to Basel, Switzerland, where he had family, including relatives' children, with whom he shared his experiences." Opening sentence

The opening sentence states his name as Otto Heinrich "Pim" Frank. Pim was apparently a nickname sometimes used by his daughter when referring to her father during their life in the Netherlands. Is there any evidence that he used Pim as a name as the opening sentence suggests? If this wasn't a name he used himself, and only a nickname sometimes used by his daughter, it would be more appropriate to mention it below instead of giving the impression that he was generally known as Pim Frank (compare: the opening sentence William Jefferson "Bill" Clinton) --Tataral (talk) 02:48, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

Also, the opening sentence describes him as "a German-born Swiss businessman". He moved to Switzerland in the 1950s, but is of course primarily known as the father of Anne Frank, before he moved to Switzerland. He also had a long career as a businessman in Germany and the Netherlands before settling in Switzerland. The article also doesn't include any information about him being active as a businessman in Switzerland; on the other hand he was involved in establishing the Anne Frank Foundation while living there. Therefore, "a German businessman, who later became a resident of the Netherlands and Switzerland" would seem like a better description. --Tataral (talk) 03:01, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
