perhaps this should be a disambiguation page and create Detritus_(Discworld) ??

Perhaps Detritus (biology) should be renamed Detritus with just a note at the top about Detritus (Discworld) - unless other "Detritus (...)" articles are likely to be created. Nurg 09:45, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

I think this and detritivore should be merged as predator and prey were merged into predation, perhaps into detritivory. Richard001 06:29, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can see that the merger worked well with predator and prey, and that it could eventually work well with detritivore and detritus, but I think there are some problems to be resolved first. The detritivore page is currently strictly terrestrial (and basically a stub) while the detritus page is largely aquatic, and was clearly written by someone who worked in aquatic systems. Additionally, detritus is consumed by both detritivores and decomposers, but I don't think it would make sense to merge all three. Not sure how to resolve that one. I am going to work on the decomposer and detritivore pages today, but since I only know about terrestrial systems, that probably won't help bridge the divide between the current detritus and detritivore pages. I have added some helpful references at detritivore which are specific to benthic systems. Let me know if I can help with either article or the merging process. Nimur (talk) 19:40, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
