Untitled[edit]

I couldn't believe there was no existing article on Dare Wright or The Lonely Doll for that matter. she has a very interesting background story and her books were quite popular among children in the 60's, especially young girls.

these books had a wide influence and strong impact on introverted/sensible girls throughout the 60's and 70's. I also read somewhere that a biopic or film based on Dare Wright's life is in process.

there's a lot of work yet to be done here.

There is a recent biography publishedd by Jean Nathan called "The Secret Life of the Lonely Doll" which is very interesting--it includes bizarre nude photos of Wright and has to be one of the most fascinating biographies published. In additon there is a web site produced by the executor of her estate which also has many photos and some biographical information. Unfortunately, the biographer had no personal essays, letters or diaries written by Dare Wright and was forced to rely on interviews, press releases and the like for her information. However, the biography is extremely interesting and Wright's relationship with her mother is fascinating. Wright never married and ended her life as an alcoholic and eventually was placed in a long term care facility where she depended on a ventilator to breath until her death. It appears that she took a turn for the worse following the death of her mother--that is when she started drinking and appears to have become incompetent. Her executor, who runsa teh web site, has a few pointed comments on the website that appear to be directed towards jean Nathan, author of the only(as far as I know)biography.

Reply to above: I know. What Nathan's bio lacks in firsthand accounts from Dare Wright (only a few postcards), she makes up for in the accounts, writings and observations of Wright's friends and family, her peers. That the offical website seems to oppose the more disturbing details must be that executor is attached to her POV of Wright's life (executor seems to have been a child when Wright was an adult), certainly normal, but not neutral.

Movie?[edit]

Is Julian Schnabel still set to direct the movie? It was once on the IMDB, but I see that it is removed. This leads me to think the movie is canceled. Syosset 01:11, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The movie is still on. I don't know why it was removed from the IMDB.Poodle Girl 02:48, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Abusive relationship with her mother?[edit]

I found this article showing a difficult relationship with her mother, possible to be considered abuse. Is it trustworthy? Should it be mentioned in the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maladiq (talkcontribs) 18:56, 8 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
