In August 2001, Israeli military intelligence warned of an unprecedented massive terror attack after following leads related to Mughniyeh. The Israelis have since accused him of being the mastermind behind the attack of September 11. Furthermore, they have claimed Mughniyeh has recently met with Iraqi intelligence, and that it was likely Iraq that was behind the attack.

As far as I know, the theory that Iraq was behind the attack is one that has been left for months, giving preference to the theory that it was Osama bin Laden. Andre Engels

Would you mind if I restored the deleted text, adding that Israel dropped the theory in favor of suspecting bin Laden? --Ed Poor
