Question[edit]

Most of the history is copied from [1]. I'm not sure whether military-authored documents are copyrighted, though. Stephen Compall 05:22, 12 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Military sites are not copyrighted. However, wiki guidelines, as I have been told, that we right the text in our own words, and reference the official site.LanceBarber (talk) 04:23, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CSS[edit]

Some military units are from the Central Security Service. Such as the 704th Military Intelligence Brigade being part of the CSS and the units subordinate to 25th AF also part of the Central Security Sevice Should I put things on branch, commands, specialty. Personisgaming talk —Preceding undated comment added 00:12, 27 June 2019 (UTC) Let me know I was given notices by Gauruda28[reply]

@Personisgaming: Those units are not from the CSS, but rather under the services tasked to the CSS. With few exceptions UCC’s and joint activities do not have their own units, but rather control those chopped off from the services. Garuda28 (talk) 00:20, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Garuda28: How do you characterize a unit? Role? What it is part of such as the Central Security Service Example... A person is editing an Air Force Base that features a squadron of the Twenty-Fourth Air Force. Should a link to US Cyber Command be added on the page?
@Personisgaming: I’m afraid I don’t understand your point. For the edit at hand the deciding matter is are these units part of the services and tasked to the CSS or are they a part of the CSS. They are clearly a part of the services, and as such should not be moved. Garuda28 (talk) 00:35, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Personisgaming and Garuda28: Agree with Garuda28 , the based units section typically shows the units under the military branch they directly belong to administratively. As the editor that added the based units section in this article, that was certainly the intention - it would get very complicated to try and show any other relationships between units and parts of the military. If there needs to be mention of other organisations that a unit works on behalf of (such as CSS) then that could go in the 'Role and operations' section which is there to explain in more detail the work undertaken by the units at a base and could also be used to explain any relationships they have with other organisations. @Thx811: Ex Coast Guard, Marines, etc NOT US Cyber Command or that stuff.

Needs Update[edit]

The history on this page needs some substantial update/cleanup. This link at GlobalSecurity.org has a lot of good information: http://www.globalsecurity.org/space/facility/buckley.htm Among other items, the Air National Guard (ANG) Base became a full-fledged Air Force Base in 2000. Buckley is also home for the Colorado Army National Guard Aviation Command (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/agency/army/89tc-avn-cmd.htm) N2e 17:28, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
