Yes, Please use the definition from our dictionary for Wikipedia. It seems like you are doing a "fair use" use, so this is absolutely fine. Thanks for asking! Cheers, Phil

Saskatchewan Perspective[edit]

In reviewing the two web sites, I prefer the wikipedia's definition. It is more thorough and captures the components of being an agrologist and the practice of agrology. The wiktionary definition is lacking the content of who is an agrologist and the various roles that they may play. I find this definition focusing too much on crop production and agronomy with no mention on livestock production and farm management advising.

I have posted my understanding of the various (and conflicting) meanings of agrology at http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Agrology and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agrology. I appreciate (and depended on) the very clear information on your site as I grappled with the true meaning of agrology. Please consider reviewing my 2 posts to confirm that my presentation is proper and appropriate.

External links to provencial agrology sites[edit]

Having external links to provencial agrology sites in the article is discouraged by guidelines at WP:EL and WP:SPAM, guidelines that help keep the project focussed. As a wiser editor than I once stated,

...having links at all is actually a pretty low priority at Wikipedia, since (non-reference) links don't really have anything to do with having a quality encyclopedia. Wikipedia is also not a Google replacement, so the argument that it should be there for the users holds no water. A link, ideally, is only included when it offers something that could never be in the encyclopedia itself.

Citation Needed[edit]

@Agrologist: Your recent edit states "Agrology, is a Canadian term coined by the agrology profession and is unique to Canada." Yet agrology is a term published by German soil science founder Friedrich Albert Fallou in 1862.* The term agrology predates 1862 and is used worldwide in universities and national government organizations under a different meaning than the Canadian use. For example the Geographic Institute Agustín Codazzi (Columbia, South America) is a cartographic institution which has an agrology department oriented to soil science: much closer to Fallou's use of the term agrology than Canada's use. That degree of disconnect demands a supporting reference. *(I know this about Fallou from Soil Genesis and Classification, 2011, Buol, Southard, Graham, McDaniel, ISBN-10: 0-470-96060-4) -- Paleorthid (talk) 23:55, 25 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
