Correct spelling[edit]

Per the Town of Belmont Web site, the area in the southwest part of the town is correctly spelled "Waverley Square".rockhopper10r 23:11, 8 February 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Principals have names too![edit]

In the school year 2004-2005 a new principal came to the Belmont High School after Dr. Wright, the former principal retired. The new principal is Dr. Landman.

Belmont Center, etc links[edit]

After somebody created the Belmont Center article to share a bit of social commentary, I changed it to redirect to this page. I had originally added the links for Belmont Center, Cushing Square and Waverely Square when I wrote that section of the Belmont article, but upon reconsideration don't believe they need their own articles. Jennifer Ann Clark[edit]

An anonymous editor added a Jennifer Ann Clark to the list of famous residents, with the description "philanthropist". I was unable to find any clear reference to this person on the Web; that might be because I didn't look hard enough. I'm skeptical ... maybe this is spurious. Can anybody find any evidence of a philanthropist by that name from Belmont? ACW 04:34, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I can find no reference as well and have removed her. If anybody thinks she is justified to be on the list, please post here first. The famous residents section is getting a bit long and disorganized, and should probably be revised. More on Famous Residents[edit]

One poster removed Kim Clark as a famous resident because he no longer lives in Belmont. The same is true of many on this list (some are also deceased). I've noticed that this is true of many town and city articles on Wikipedia. For the time being, I have replaced Kim Clark's name. I've also clarified the heading.

Thomas Ryan, ornamental ironworker[edit]

An anonymous editor added "Ornamental ironworker Thomas Ryan" to the list of current and former residents. The name Thomas Ryan was wikified, but the article turns out to be a disambiguation page, and among the eight or ten Thomas Ryans listed, none were described as an ornamental ironworker.

I removed Ryan from the list in accordance with our rule of thumb that a guideline for inclusion is whether the person has a Wikipedia article about them. (See discussion above under "Jennifer Ann Clark".)

It's more than possible that I blew it; you can fix my error by restoring Ryan with a link to an article that's really about him. ACW 21:39, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Underwood Deviled Ham[edit]

Maybe someone should add a link in notable residents to William Underwood who owned a company that produced Underwood Deviled Ham. William Underwood lived in Belmont and made some contributions to the food canning industry. Underwood Deviled Ham is still widely available today from B & G Foods.

The usual criterion for an entry in a "Notable Residents" list is an existing wikipedia entry. He doesn't have one, but his company does, so I put him in.

Corrupt police[edit]

Police chief James G. Macisaac breaks the law and doesn’t honor his oath to the constitution. Former Belmont police lieutenant. Kevin Shea (also a prosecutor for the Cambridge district court) lies while he’s under oath in a court room. Also police officer Brian O’donovan lied under oath too.
