I've taken out some of the information on the article because it's just copied and pasted from http://www.ebitnet.com/script/univ/cerritos.htm. --Barfooz (talk) 4 July 2005 03:24 (UTC)

Class project?[edit]

I've noticed a lot of brand-new accounts editing today. If this is a class project, I recommend reviewing Wikipedia:Student assignments for more help. Thanks It was an assignment. We are a class at Cerritos College. We based our inclusion of student services on other Wikipedia entries for institutions of higher education, such as the one for Long Beach City College. Tomorrow everyone was going to make sure they added footnotes to their posts linking to appropriate campus web pages that supported their statements. If someone could provide more clarification as to why the content was removed, I'd greatly appreciate it.Grrlibrarian (talk) 05:02, 6 May 2014 (UTC)Grrlibrarian[reply]

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a clone of the college's website. As an encyclopedia, what is important and relevant to include would be things like the history of the college, not the fact that the students have a library they can use to find books and a data base service-that is pretty much a given for any college- we would cover if it WERENT the case.
Wikipedia article content must also come from reliably published sources with a reputation for accuracy, fact checking and editorial oversight. Basing the encyclopedia article on the school's website would mean that the content is from people who have a conflict of interest and are unlikely to be presenting the content about the school in a neutral manner showing all perspectives and views of the subject - the school's website is unlikely to be a good source for any actually critical content about the school for example.-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 06:03, 6 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In doing a quick search about the school, the one thing that I saw that third parties repeatedly commented upon is some teacher training program. That would also be appropriate to add - based upon what the third parties have published about it, not as it is a good recruitment tool for the school . See our basic content policies:

If the class needs more clarification as to why content was removed, it will be helpful to review the edit summaries that TRPoD and I have used when editing this article. We state the reason for the removal or changing of content in those summaries. Bahooka (talk) 14:50, 6 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
may i suggest that the participants select an article from Category:Los Angeles County, California or one of the people listed as an alum rather than the school itself. There will still be a connection, but less reason for un/conscious bias to impact the views and work. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 01:16, 7 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Location[edit]

Currently the location is given as Norwalk California. According to this official map of the City of Cerritos, the west half of the campus is in Cerritos. The border dissects the campus along the walkway between the Student Union in Norwalk and the quad, music department and the majority of classroom buildings being in Cerritos. That would put the administration buildings in Cerritos, even though the official mailing address is Norwalk. Since the history section focuses on Dairy Valley controversy, there might even be some spiteful legacy to the address. I can't state that factually. I'll leave this message up for a while to see if anyone can present any argument why the geographic identity should not be modified. Trackinfo (talk) 22:47, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
