Questioning Grammar/Spelling in article[edit]

Hi, I am just noting here (because I do not want to make an edit with no background on this topic) that at one point the article states: Her new husband dies early in the war, and Tara falls into the marauding hands of the Yankees. I am not sure why it says Tara, but then again this could be because I have no background on the issue being discussed. Yes TARA is correct. Tara is the farm/plantation Scarlett was raised on as a young girl.

TARA is the name of the home of the High Kings of Ireland.

Contradiction with Katharine Hepburn article[edit]

Hi, I just wanted to point out that the Katharine Hepburn article states that she refused the role of Scarlett O'Hara because it was unfit for her. This seems to be completely contradictory to the information in this article. TsunamiWave7 06:15, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Casting of Scarlett[edit]

I watched a movie where it was said, that Selznick knew from the beginning, that Vivien Leigh was the actress of his choice, but he kept this secret and casted other actresses due to PR reasons. The famous story of his brother introducing Vivien Leigh to him, while he had already started filming was scene Selznick made up and let his brother and Vivien Leigh act to increase the interest for the film even more. I'm not adding this to the article, because my English is not good enough.

Scarlett O'Hara was not beautiful[edit]

The article states, "Scarlett O'Hara was very beautiful, as indicated by Margaret Mitchell's opening line". However, the book's opening line states that "Scarlett O'Hara was not beautiful...". Scarlett O'Hara in anime series[edit]

For those who don't know about this and hopefully won't be offended or taking it personal, the name Scarlett O'Hara is also used on an anime character who becomes Love Angel Salvia on the manga/anime series Ai Tenshi Densetsu Wedding Peach. The movie-Scarlett information belongs with the Gone with the Wind (film) wiki.[edit]

The sections "Searching for Scarlett," "Actresses Considered for Scarlett" and "Adaptations," and the similarities between Scarlett and V Leigh in "Characteristics," belong in the movie's wiki. The history of the character belongs here, not the history of the movie. Does anyone feel these sections should stay here?

Information about the Scarlett of the 1939 movie, as she was summarized and edited, should stay/would go here, if the movie Scarlett was different in any essential way from MM's character. The opinions of the people at Selznick studio who "created" her in 1936-39, and opinions on the book's Scarlett (contemporary reviews of the book, psychological interpretations of her from the time -- or of any time!) could be interesting here, too IMO. The section on real-life Scarletts/influences on M Mitchell is important.

What is being referenced?[edit]

I'm drafting an overhaul of the Rhett Butler article, and I was searching here for some places to look. I'm wondering what references 4 and 5 refer to: "The Making of Gone With The Wind" Part 2, Documentary circa 1990s. Is this referring to The Making of a Legend: Gone with the Wind (1988)? Or is it referring to the episode of ABC's Our World titled "Gone With The Wind 1939" (aired February 19, 1987)? This is not a biography[edit]

The opening line reads, "Scarlett O'Hara (born Katie Scarlett O'Hara; credited as Scarlett O'Hara Hamilton Kennedy Butler) is the central character in Margaret Mitchell's 1936 novel Gone with the Wind and in the later film of the same name." I find it confusing and even misleading to imply that a fictional character was ever 'born', and to format the article as though it were a biography. Copy editing[edit]

Body needs some minor copy-editing: in particular sections Biography & Character summary have a couple of dangling pronouns, "i.e." for "e.g.", etc.; "Tara's threat" seems obscure to me. As even minor edits may affect the sense, I don't want to make changes without a copy of the book in hand.
