This article's been recently changed to international date formatting. I reverted the change a couple times, but the editor was very convinced that this was the proper format for the article and mentioned that this has been the convention for some time. As far as I understand his reasoning, it is because Henrik was born in Sweden, which I think seems reasonable and logical, but I simply just find it strange as there is no precedent for it in any other internationally-born NHL player I have encountered on Wikipedia. My understanding of WP:Date is that if the topic of the article has strong ties to an English-speaking country, then the date formatting should abide by that. If applied to Henrik, I think the fact he plays in Canada and the NHL (a North American league) takes priority over his Swedish heritage, because Sweden is not the English-speaking country here. Well we do speak English in Sweden too. Interesting discussion you two had on your talk page, personally I prefer the US date format, both in English speech and writing, but the international date format is most common in Sweden so that's what I would use in the article, since I believe the national ties for the Sedins are with Sweden and not Canada. Henrik may have National ties to Sweden, but isn't he employed in Canada and earns a living in Canadian or US dollars? I doubt the date on his paycheck is in the international standard because he's Swedish.
