Radio Tirana

Radio Tirana used "Në njëren dorë kazmën, në tjëtren pushkën" (With the Pickaxe in One Hand,the Rifle in the Other"), aka "With Pickaxe and Rifle" until the fall of Ramiz Alia after which it was replaced by "Këputa një gjethë dafinë". They were not used together. Also, Radio Tirana still broadcasts on shortwave at the time of writing this, renting frequencies from WRMI in the USA and on the Kall-Krekel transmitter in Germany. I heard them myself via the latter, very rencently (6005 kHz) and they were using the "Këputa..." interval signal. Therefore I think Radio Tirana should be moved from "Formerly used" to current. Does anyone know what the "cricket chirping" noise is on some Public Radio stations in between the regular broadcast stuff? Is that an interval signal?

Like between news stories and such? They're just indexing for the satellite feed, so proper cutting and pasting can be done without necessarily needing a person to do it. It's not the same as an interval signal in this sense, which is really more of an non-lingual station ID for international broadcasters. --Alexwcovington (talk) 08:29, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

Jingles as station IDs

The fact that jingles are used by many stations in the US (and elsewhere) has absolutely nothing to do with the absence of interval signals. US stations are (still?) required to identify themselves by call letter every hour on the hour. If anything takes the place of interval signals, it is the call letters. RE: Merge with Tuning signal

By all means please go ahead and do this. I created Tuning Signal to accomodate a red link, without, to be honest, checking for an article I could have routed that red link to. If it would help, I could also save a merge to by changing Tuning signal into a redirect to go to Interval signal. Either way, do what you think is best! Thor Malmjursson 10:47, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Broken file links, broken file links everywhere

A good number of the file links to play the signal examples are broken, just leading to File:Undefined. Figure I'd say something here, since it's a little outside my area of expertise.jjdavis699 (talk) 00:01, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
