And by adding a sentence to that effect you have addresses this concern. Although your sentence was still off beam: the Rolls-Royce brand is best known to the GP etc. this being so, then the GP clearly don't know the Rolls-Royce company at all. Your edit being made, why raise the matter for discussion here? And why in the tone taken? Very encouraging for the new author, I'm sure.

And anyway, what is the purpose of an encyclopedia? To reinforce the misinformation that "everyone knows"? To assist the general public maintaining their ignorance? I'd have though not. Have you never looked something up in a reference work and been suprised that what your knowlege was wrong, or lacking in some way?

Rolls-Royce and Rolls-Royce Motorcars haven't been the same company for thirty years, was I wrong to change the article so that it was no longer factually incorrect in that regard?

Look, I'm sorry for being snappy. What really should happen is that the article be split into two - one, Rolls-Royce plc, and Rolls-Royce the car brand. As you say, they are only fairly distantly related. --Robert Merkel

Yes, they should definitely remain two pages. The aero page is badly titled, using "Rolls Royce", instead of the correct "Rolls-Royce". The Rolls-Royce page should become a disambiguation page for Rolls-Royce (automobile) and Rolls-Royce (aero engine). -- Hotlorp

Hello: After reading the history on the Rolls Royce car, I did not see any reference to the Rolls Royce Silver Spur,or the last model year the car was built by Rolls Royce/ Bentley before the take over by BMW. I would be very interested in this additional history.
