Birthdate?[edit]

Text was added to the main page that read: (A driving license in his name shows a birthdate of 11/11/12.) I have placed it here until it can be sourced - AKeen 09:09, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WALT WHITMAN CITATION[edit]

I've never gotten involved in editing a Wikipedia page, but thought I would comment here regarding a citation needed for George's Walt Whitman relation legend. I was at the bookstore in 1997, and a whimsical story of his relation to Walt Whitman is written on the chalkboards in front of the store. So, the citation needed should be removed (I don't know how to do this). I saw it first hand.. I sort of believed it, but learned after asking around the shop that it was a joke. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sixstrings1975 (talkcontribs) 03:33, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I personally heard George make the grandson claim on several occasions while I was staying at S&Co in the summer of 1984. When it was pointed out that Walt was gay, George backtracked and said that he was the "spiritual grandson" of the poet. If there were any other relationship (such as great-nephew), I"m sure he would have mentioned it. I believe he is not related to the poet, but it is certainly true that he made the claim. 9 May 2011, Paul Rodgers, journalist, p.rodgers@independent.co.uk. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.35.66.147 (talk) 13:24, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
