P.S. One last helpful hint. To sign your posts like I did above (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).

GCC/C99[edit]

On what grounds did you conclude that GCC don't intend to eventually implement all of C99? Based on the status page, it seems they are quite close to full compliance even now. Neilc 02:35, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)

People having opinions like that expressed in the following comp.lang.c post tend to agree with my impression that progress towards C99 compliance isn't much of a priority. However, diffing the GCC 3.0 and GCC 3.4 shows that there is some steady progress, although it isn't very fast. I admit that this may be more an opinion than a fact and invite you, if you think that my contribution to the article doesn't respect NPOV, to revert it. Homer Jay 17:35, 2004 Oct 28 (UTC)
I don't think it's accurate to say "full C99 compliance doesn't seem to be a short-term goal" based on the comment of some person on Usenet, who may or may not be informed about the goals of the GCC developers. It may not be a high priority, I'll grant you. But in the absence of any definitive information on the matter (i.e. a statement on the subject by one or more individuals from the GCC Steering Committee), I think we shouldn't speculate about the goals of the GCC folks. Hence, I've reverted your comment. Neilc 09:01, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)

You could place Wadlow's height information to table format to make it clearer; currently it is bit of a mess. - Skysmith 12:19, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Trenches[edit]

Are you the same Homer Jay that's been posting on The Trenches AfD? I'd just like to know. The Kinslayer 17:49, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, that wasn't me. I usually have better spelling than that :-). Homer Jay 00:14, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:04, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
