Roh Moo-hyun suicide: justification for listing[edit]

I briefly explained why former President Roh's suicide was restored to the events list, but it looks like I need to be more specific. His death was not merely the result of natural causes or an accident, as is the case with most of the deaths that are listed on these pages. It was suicide, something that no sitting or prior leader of South Korea had ever done, and only one other Korean leader across thousands of years (Biryu, a Baekje king, in 344) had ever done. This was a unique event in Korean history, and because it was seen by many to have been driven by politics, it has impacted relations between the ruling and opposition parties for years. In other words, the act itself is historically significant beyond just the man's death. -- BlueResistance (talk) 12:18, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Clavijo[edit]

Given that the Battle of Clavijo most likely never actually happened, should it even be in an "on this date" list? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.18.248.20 (talk) 17:01, 23 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of birth and death entries[edit]

Continuing the ongoing effort to reduce the size of the Births and Deaths sections to make them manageable, as well as continuing the globalization effort, I am removing celebrities with few or no articles in other wikipedias, moving the entries to the appropriate Year in Topic article if they were not already present. See discussions at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Days of the year. Deb (talk) 11:58, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

World Turtle Day[edit]

This seems to be a private initiative. And it's trademarked. I recommend for removal from holidays and obervances.--Richardson mcphillips (talk) 12:36, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

May 23rd, 2021 is the major Christian feast day of Pentecost in the Western church. This should be added under the "holidays and observances" section for May 23rd, 2021.

Wiki link, including the date of Pentecost: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentecost 2605:8D80:5A0:1CB9:9BDE:9502:7B6C:22BE (talk) 12:33, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: As noted at WP:DOY, holidays and observances in articles like this are limited to events that occur on the same day each year. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 13:32, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Clyde and Bonnie should be beside each other on the lineup for deaths on May 23rd. They weren't able to be buried together so shouldn't their deaths on a list at least be beside each other? Spicyapplesauce (talk) 21:30, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: that part of the list is alphabetical. In the other part of the list, they are listed on the same line. RudolfRed (talk) 00:32, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Spicyapplesauce: it's been explained to you above that the entries are kept in alphabetical order, so please stop making this change. Thanks, Kiwipete (talk) 08:40, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Could you add Mohamed Ramadan, the Egyptian actor and singer his year of birth was 1988, to (Births)? and my source is:[1] 102.42.131.70 (talk) 11:10, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: the citation that you have given states his date of birth to be 22 May, not 23 May (at least according to the Google Translate version). Can you please verify and make your request at Talk:May 22? Kiwipete (talk) 07:03, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
